$15 bucks for that hygrometer ain't that bad. It's decent if it's reading 90% without even calibrating it. Does it have a calibration screw on the back?

Put holes spaced 2-3" apart on ALL SIX SIDES. It sounds counter intuitive (but wait...i thought mushrooms needed high humidity, and holes would lower it ), but it works.

While mushrooms need high humidity, it is more important for them to have fresh air. I think of it like giving the air fresher humidity, so they dont linger in stale damp air.

That hygrometer is worthless.  Disregard any reading it gives you.  I'm sure your terrarium is at 99%, not 90%.  And that amount of perlite is fine for such a small terrarium.

yea...just loaded them!  look below...

nah i'm waiting for my syringe to come into the mail.  i just wanted to make sure my terrarium  was ready when i had some colonized cakes.  i did have a question though...if i just spray the perlite will it keep the tempature were it is for a while???

current temp is 78 f and 91 h

Whats worthless is this guys advice. My point was that few hygrometers will even read that high right off the shelf. It sucks that it can't be calibrated. But it's still not worthless if it's only 9 off at 99% rh. It'll get you by until you find a better one.
