if i have a shotgun terrarium in a closed spot will a 50mm fan be big enough with 2 intakes on top and fan on bottom to have enough FAE? or would i be better off running the top intakes to the inside of the terrarium? its just high up and really dont want to have to take it down twice a day to fan it out.

.. FAE twice a day I don't feel is enough. I FAE a minimum of 5 times a day. Probably closer to 10 times, plus I have 36 1/4 inch holes drilled in my shotgun. Not a "true" shotgun, but it's set up rather similar to one. If you were gonna use fans, use a CPU fan or two just for a a like 30 seconds. The trouble is trying to find a timer that is that precise with out paying out the ass for it.

would the fan in the sealed area the terrarium is in be enough or would i want to put intakes into the terrarium. think I'm trying to ask if the air exchange around the terrarium would be enough.

Keep your terrarium out in the open, not in a sealed box, fans or no fans. RR

Personally I wouldn't use fans. I think it would dry the fuck out of it. EG: I went on a hiking trip late last month for 4 days. I had my roomie tend to my buddies. I set it about 2-3 feet away from a window and next to a air purifier that was turned on low. Came back with 2 ounces worth of harvested mushrooms.
The Problem: My sub was dried out as fuck. I believe it was due to the air movement from teh air purifier. Maybe not, but I am convinced that that's what it was. Humidity was down to 85% ish. I got it away from the air purifier and the RH slwoly went up and was back to normal by the end of the day, mostly.

I am faced with a similar situation. The best place for my fruiting chamber is a semi-confined space, which will not have much air circulation... Is there any way with the shotgun that I can get the necessary amount of circulation? Or is there a different type of fruiting chamber that would be better in a confined space?
