damn, so maybe my moisture is completely off then.  What about if I want to introduce my liquid cultures to the jars?  That will throw off the moisture even more!  I actually did that yesterday, I swirled my penis envy uncut liquid culture and actually took off the tops and added a splash of the liquid culture in each jar (3 jars total). In a sterile environment of course. I hope the liquid culture was colonized enough, it should be though, the culture was more milky than flaky.

A good way to dry them up would be to put them near an open window, or perhaps put them outside then?

I usually let my wbs drain for at least 4 hours, I would try doing that next time. plus lower those temps.

I think I just realized what I am doing wrong.  I did not shake any of my jars previously.  I checked one of the jars that I shook only once because I was mad at it for poor growth, but I just now realized that 90% of the jar is growing with mycelium.

OH THE IRONY!!!! I need to shake my jars more!

And by the way, that is a really nice smell the mycelium gives off while being shaked ^^.

Gosh, I should have shaken earlier then.  I shaked all my jars after I noticed this by the way.

And on the penis envy jars I see mycelium forming where I had inoculated just a day or 2 ago.  But I lowered the temperature and perhaps this is why they are growing nicely.

So I might stick to rye afterall.  I just need to dry the grains more!! And keep my temperature 76-80!!! I still would like to experiment with popcorn, and wild bird seed though!!  I need more jars though so I will probably go get some more jars during the weekend and some wbs and popcorn!!!!!

So yea I think this is possibly resolved now.  I needed to shake my jars and lower the temperature.  And dry my grain for a longer period of time (like an hour maybe).

Thanks everyone!

I jsut started using WBS mixed with verm(my WBS  always ends up way too wet the verm dries it up a little) and store bought CPOO, also sypsum and coffee.  I figure this has to have a super nutritive value.

I honestly prefer the WBS to popcorn, The bird seed is so small that you have many, many more inoc' points then with the popcorn. Oh and popcorn is kinda expensive, kinda like a novelty. -Cheers
