Yeah I'm certain that I'm never going to have kids or get married.  It would be cool to have girlfriend again though

you should check out george carlin on kids, if you haven't already, on the "It's Bad For Ya" show

well I guess what I mean to say by 'kick ass' was that there's frequent
sneak attacks from ninjas and pirates where I seldom win

Hey rooster, life sounds pretty good on your end.
It's a way of life that I can see myself subscribing to.
I'm just curious, what do you do for a living?

I'd like to wait until I'm older to have kids for more practical reasons, so that I'm more financially stable, and I'm older and wiser and better prepared to guide their growth, etc.  But I'd also like to be young when I have kids, so that I am still able to play with them and actually compete when they are beginning to enter their physical prime.

I'd hate to be an older father with hardly any energy or flexibility, unable to go out camping, to play catch or swimming, etc., with my kids

E-commerce website stuff... I have a regular job with a small company managing all their e-commerce stores. I used to just freelance for them, but I wanted/needed a regular job for tax reasons. I used to do the regular 40 hours, but they couldn't afford to give me a raise so I told them I'd work half the time. :smirk:

I also do freelance web design stuff, but just to my old business partner. He always has some project that needs work.

My plan is to eventually do EVERYTHING from my house... I just setup one of my computers on the HDTV, and it seems entirely possible to do all my work from a $1,200 La-Z-Boy chair.

My life is pretty good, but there is always room to improve (ie. working from home). The drive is a pain in the ass, and the only reason I still do it is because I drive a hybrid.

Who knows, maybe if I'm silly rich when I'm 50, I might sire a child... I'd have to be quite well off to afford all the hot nannies.

Dr :ronpaul: says to stop trying to treat the side-effects of big government and focus on the core issues. End the Federal Reserve/audit the gold reserves at Fort Knox, abolish the IRS, end all wars and occupancies, stop the building of an empire that will inevitably fail, and cut all unconstitutional federal programs. Put the power back in the peoples' hands by ending this nanny-state.

To be honest, I see little reason outside of marriage and having kids to be alive.

Except for peace, enjoyment and freedom to do whatever you'd like whenever you'd like. The less responsibilities you subscribe to, the more free time and dispensable cash to do whatever you'd like you get. Life is short, and when we're gone that's all there is (most likely). So I might as well enjoy the time I have to the fullest by doing what I want, not by what I'm genetically 'obligated' to do.

I just know what will make me happiest is less obligations to people and tranquility to spend time on my own, doing what I enjoy when I want to instead of being tied down by complex schedules, giving time to people and changing diapers. I have two nieces and a nephew, so I have no real obligation to procreate.

Besides, children are REALLY bad for the environment. Each new child brings us one step closer to our demise.

um... being 40+ doesnt make you dead, I get out and play, camp, ride the
horses, work in the fields, swimming, wrestling and teach them kung fu,
I'm the old guy that gets on the playground at McDonalds with my kids

my last job one of the people that had been with the company since it
was founded asked my age, I said 40, his response was 'amazing', I asked
why it was amazing and he said it was because I'm the second oldest shop
hand and I work circles around all of them including the ones half my
age... my attorney was 97 when he passed away, at 94 he was still
running 5 miles a day and working out, dont let age dictate how old you
think you'll feel, stay active and you'll be fine

The jurys out on that for me, more so on the kid part, well then again marriage is just dependent on if my pickiness is ever quelled  but part of me likes the idea of the freedom of not being married and being able to be more nomadic or something

I don't intend to have kids.  If it happens then I'll have to do my best at being a father.  I have 6 nieces and nephews which I see all the time so I don't feel any need to preserve my heritage or what not.

I'm definitely not getting married.  I did the LTR thing for most of my 20's just don't see any benefit personally.  Being in love is great though and I hope to do that several times.  I love being free and independent and try to avoid anything that threatens that.

As of now, I have my whole life ahead of me at 20 years of age.

My peak vocational goals are to enter and retain my position within senior level management at a fortune500 and live a busy/thrilling lifestyle. I honestly can envision the responsibility of taking care of a child and giving her/him my utmost attention.

If I can't do that, I don't want to bring life into this world.

I might get married one day, but it will be to a woman that does not want children...because I have already decided that I do NOT want children...and it will not be anytime soon. Also, the idea of living alone sounds pretty awesome to me.

No kids or wife here.  Im 39 and enjoy my freedom far too much.  The state of the world is such that I believe its prudent to be highly mobile.

You are not the only one.I decided at the teen age years to never get married or have kids.I just knew it was not for me.Some people do it because they think they have to,and some do it because of some primal urge, family pressure,or society/media pressure.I am the youngest one in my family and both of my siblings have kids,so I do not have to appease mom.

It is a shame that society sets up the system to work better for people that do get married. It's almost as if they force you into it with the lure of all the benefits and tax breaks a couple gets when they wed and procreate.
