How do I get into College?

Once before...a long time ago, I was once in college...For 6 weeks. I couldn't take it, I had to drop out.

but now my life is hard as shit, I never have any money, and a shitty job. I want...no I need to, get back into college.

How do I do this now? Before my school counselors took care of it all, but I don't have them anymore.

What can I do to get a degree in international relations? How do I sign up for colleges? Does anyone have any experiences with International Relations?

I want to join some sort of government agency, I'm 26 and I still have time.

How do I do this?

Man. I've googled this shit, but they all say call the schools. I don't want to call the schools. I don't know what I'm doing, I don't know how im going to pay for this shit, and I don't know what major is best for the career I want...

go to college website, follow application instructions.

there are always online instructions on how to apply.  you'll probably need some bullshit like transcripts, immunization records, etc etc etc.

Just look in your local area for a good apprenticeship in a good trade that you wouldn't mind doing.

On most state unemployment websites they will list employers who have apprenticeships available..

Most trades are jobs that cannot ever be fully automated or reduced to standard forms..

That's why we have all survived.    And always will.

as for choosing a major you can probably declare "open option" or "undecided" for you major and speak to a counselor for free.

for paying, you can easily get a loan from the gov't (i'm getting a gov't subsidized loan for $2,500/semester) and probably work-study (i have a work study award of $1250 per semester).

didn't have to do fuck except browse the school financial aid site a bit and figure shit out

I'm a counselor at a college and getting in is very easy. If you cannot afford it, just apply for financial aid. 3/4 of the people I enroll at my college did not pay 1 cent out of their own pocket. They got all their money from financial aid.

You are going to need to talk to these schools.
Put in the time and visit them, they will walk you through with what you need to do to gain admittance.
Its a bit time consuming, but they will tell you what you need to get in order.
Including FAFSA information, and how to get financial aid.

here's the deal in my state. any public university is willing to accept you as long as you get a 2 year degree from a community college and finished with a decent GPA.

i sucked in high school and couldn't get into any good universities, so i just went straight to community college. 2 years later and i about to have an associate in arts degree and transfer to one of the best public universities in the state.

just look up the community college for your county, go to their website and apply! community college is the best place to start in my opinion because its more affordable and covers the same general education requirements your going to need to take for the first 2 years in a university anyways.

so your major doesn't really matter for the first 2 years, just pick something vague and then change your major when you transfer to a university for your bachelors degree.

i set my major in "humanities"

oh, and don't hate on yourself for dropping out in the first place. everything happens for a reason and you are alive and ambitious today, so be grateful

Basically, you need to decide if you want to go for something "you love" (stupid waste of money and time 95% o the time) or something that will prevent you from being poor and breaking your back.

Get a business degree, a law degree, or a medical degree. Keep in mind that health care jobs won't pay nearly as much if our gov. passes universal health care.

Typically, the more math needed for your degree, the higher your value will be in the workforce.

I'm somewhat afraid...I want to get into international relations and minor in some foreign language. But I don't know what colleges are good for what...like Berkley is great for science..

I found a few colleges, but besides my major, I don't know what language would be good to study right now.

i doubt you'll be able to get into a "real" college right now considering you've been out of the loop for a while. do 2 years at a community college and transfer to the college of your choice when you make your mind up.
