Ergot on rye

Yello' there.
I've got a single ergot colonized rye grain. What should i do with it to start a culture or something. Or just name some uses for it.

From what I understand, most of medieval Europe suffered through an ergot epidemic in their crops.  This did make them hallucinate but it also caused permanent brain damage.

The common name for ergotism is "St. Anthony's Fire"[9], in reference to monks who cared for victims as well as symptoms, such as severe burning sensations in the limbs.[10] These are caused by effects of ergot alkaloids on the vascular system due to vasoconstriction of blood vessels, sometimes leading to gangrene and loss of limbs due to severely restricted blood circulation.

The neurotropic activities of the ergot alkaloids may also cause hallucinations and attendant irrational behaviour, convulsions, and even death.[7][8] Other symptoms include strong uterine contractions, nausea, seizures, and unconsciousness.

Meh, i'm not trying to grow em' for straight eating. That wouldn't be smart. I just want to make a culture for future.

You could probably put that kernel of grain on agar and isolate it away from contaminants.

Probably a bad idea, though.

I think you are wasting your time from what I have heard. Supposedly, it is impossible to get the mycelium to produce sclerotia which is what you would want for extraction to make LSD. Also you are suppossed to handle the mycelium with great care because touching it causes St. Anthony's Fire which causes gangrene. Either way you look at it, you risk harming yourself and you will gain nothing. Toss that shit.
