Could you have a bad trip if you...
    #10861784 -

Didn't know about a bad trip? The two times I've had bad trips, I feel like I made it worse because maybe something threw my mind off and then I got panicked and assumed I was having a bad trip, thus making for a terrible time.

The two times I tripped before I even knew about a bad trip, I had amazing times with no anxiety at all, even while doing them with people I didn't know that well. Although maybe I'm just lucky to have been in a good mindset and even if I had not known of a bad trip, I could have had a miserable experience.

What do you all think? I've been thinking about this for a while especially since my last trip earlier this year which was the most awful experience of my life and has changed me forever. I've just been trying to make sense of why it happened and what exactly happened.

I guess so but I've always felt I've been a pretty level headed person and I've never been close to having a panic attack, well, before the first bad trip.

I just feel like maybe I and other people have psyched themselves in to having a bad trip. Maybe if I/they didn't know that a bad trip was possible, the "bad trip trigger" would've just be shrugged off as a funny moment.

Anyways I just wanted to know if anyone else feels the same as I do. I've tripped probably 50 or so times, so I'm not weak minded, but I do feel there is some truth to what I am saying.

Yes, psychedelics can greatly distort your senses and with the wrong set/setting... the results can be disasterous.

Tripping too hard in public, in a bad frame of mind.

I remember a trip a few years back where my buddy got a call from his brother on the come up of a heroic dose and his brother told him his girl was cheating on him. He had a horrible time... and i'd be willing to bet it'd do that to just about anyone.

If I was told that sober, I would have a bad week. I am a hopeless romantic though and I can get hurt over stuff like that easy.

You aren't an experienced tripper until you've had a bad trip. If you keep tripping you'll eventually have one some time. You just have to be able to handle it like an experienced tripper. Riding it out really isn't that hard, but i've had really deranged and frightening bad trips.

You've probably never had a horrible trip off of 9g's. I can honestly say I would never wish that upon my worst enemy. I do feel like I had psyched myself in to a mind-frame of fragility.

I used to love acid many years ago. I had to learn to respect it or any hallucinagens for that matter.I didn't realize that it was a tool more than a recreational drug.I had several fun trips then one day I had a very scary trip.I then learned about a bad trip.It took many bad trips after that to start getting good trips again. Always respect the drug..

Yeah after that last bad trip I've only done mushies once since then and it was a couples months afterwards. I did it with a very close friend and we watched Speed Racer while peaking (AWESOME MOVIE TO TRIP TO!). I basically just did it to prove to myself I could handle tripping again and I wasn't insane.

I had to trip by myself for a long time after the bad trips.Even though I call them bad I still look back on them and realized that I learned from them.It was just scary as hell. At first acid showed me all the wonderful things of life but, there was times that it pointed out all the evil things too.

I've tripped by myself at least 1/2 if not more of the times I have tripped.

I feel it's a lot more peaceful and a lot easier to get a good experience out of it and learn something about yourself.

When partaking in psychedelic endeavors, I find it to be of GREAT help to abandon all judgement. Don't label every sensation as being "good" or "bad." It simply is.

I really like this idea. Thank you for sharing. Maybe this will help prevent a bad trip ever again.

I feel that your trip is completely maneuverable by the way you choose to percieve things.

If you look at what is happening during your trip as awesome and cool and rad and you accept what is happening, GOOD TRIP!

If you start to see things in a negative manner, and try to push thoughts away and worry yourself about what is happening, BAD TRIP.

Just basically don't get too caught up in any one thing, let your mind go with the flow, and love it. And you will be fine

very true.

ive only had a bad trip once and that was trying to ignore what was happening and just tring to sleep it off. didnt work. best course of action is to ride it out.

its all in your mind anyway and while it seems very real, its not. and while it seems like its lasting forever, its really only a few hoiurs.

worryig about a bad trip can certainly cause a bad trip.

dont dwell on it, go in with an open mind, relax and accept what comes to you.

we create our own reality

Yeah, I'm sure you could say it was a 'bad' time if you got mindfucked into that never-ending hallway trying to figure out the most simplest shit ever and panicked.

Happens to everyone though, you just need to let it go.. If you don't, then you're going to be having a very uncomfortable time thinking you're going crazy.

Oh man..I have came across a couple of those times.
I have learned not to

-Try and figure out anything that the human race has created that is taught in school (irony, mathematics, blah blah blah)

-Try and open packages or put things together.

Doing those things usually cause me to start losing my mind pretty quickly
