I understand what your saying, It seems like were individual and whole, but at the same kind creating a sort of paradox. understanding what the connection is and why its that can open up a universal language, a two way street. If it was a well known and accepted point of view then the question is why keep it subtle? I can think of only a few reasons but they would be broken when enough people understood, Im not even sure what to call it, Im guessing a good number of people here understand it to some degree. so either its kept subtle for some wierd as hell reason or its unknown.

At OP, I know what you're saying, it's been on my mind lately. Are the amazing feelings of the universe being one simply coming from the 3 pound universe we have installed in our heads, our brain? Is the universe sending us answers because we are under the influence of shrooms and able to realize these things, or does it just feel like that and our brains are actually producing the answers based on the ways our auditory and visual senses are being stimulated?

Well lets just say it is all in your head... does that make the experience any less valid?  I don't think so.

Yes because that opens up more doors.

With a connection, everything is going perfectly.. Always.

I mean, I know it is, but excitement would be nice.

How did I figure out that everything is connected?

Why would anyone need a god or higher power to tell them that everything is connected?

Everything IS connected. In fact, things are only 'things' and not 'everything' because we seperate them with words and concepts. We learn words and concepts by isolating parts of reality with fingerpoints, boxes, pictures, tones of voice, words we already know etc.

When youre tripping, you simply cant segregate your mind's perceptions into neat packages with functional importance. Rather you are overwhealmed by the sensory character of the world, and information from 'things' sort of 'leaks' around the brain, further disabling your ability to discern one 'thing' from another 'thing'.

IS it all in my head?

as chris92346 said above, does being in your head even make a difference at all?>

We KNOW everything is in our head. The question is whether there is also stuff outside our head. I'm not sure if this question can even be adressed. We will only ever exist within our head so we cant 'peek out' at something else.

Well I think as soon as we isolate the head as something we realise there must be more. Everything can be in our head, but there can also be more things outside our head that is influencing the 'universe' that we experience. But if this 'external reality' is trully external then we have no access to it, so it cannot be included in our 'everything' and thus does not compromise the notion that everything is in our heads.

I think the pertinence of this thread could be found by asking:

Were you too dumb to work things out for yourself, or did you need some higher power to educate you. More to the point, why would a higher power educate someone who couldnt work out some basic things for themselves?

Everyone figures out that everything is connected because it IS. its not some weird secret. It is just a truth that has NO utility at all. you cant change your behavior at all when you find out that everything is connected, because even if everything is connected, there are still different 'parts' on this giant nebula of existance, and if you ignore the uniqueness of the different parts (the 'things') then you will likely fail at surviving

I don't think I do; you think that I think I do.

I just don't doubt myself, thus I'm confident.

I beg to differ about the utility of this truth.  The knowledge that everything is connected opens up a world of possibilities... it's simply that most do not experiment with deeper connections while sober.  One can affect their world very much with this knowledge, but it takes practice.

I'm not saying I'm a guru or anything, but I have definitely found good uses for "everything is connected".  If nothing else, it helps one live by the "golden rule" with a more easy and conscious mind.

What sort of connection are you talking about?

I think many people go on to have further beliefs about the nature of this 'connection'...

Can you share some of the things youve done with your knowledge?

The connection implied by the OP - the "EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED" connection.  ie.  Matter is energy, and energy started from one point (the big bang, or whatever), it's all one, even though separate... etc.

Quote:

I don't know, I practice it everyday, just being aware that everything I do is connected to everything else.

For a practical application/example, I once did an experiment using the scientific method to determine if I could help my squash grow healthier.

I had three groups, "good", "bad" and the control.  Each all got the same sun/water/food, but each day I would take the "good" group into a separate room and give it all sorts of good vibes, telling them how beautiful they were, how much I loved them, etc.; I would then take the "bad" group and spew negative energy, cursing it, saying I hated them, etc... and of course the control group received no special attention.

It was clear within 2-3 weeks which group was which, without the labels.  The control group looked like any group of squash, overall healthy, some drooping and wilting, but not much.  The "good" group was absolutely bursting with life.  All were at least an inch or two higher than the control group and were a bright, almost florescent green, like new budding plants in spring.  The "bad" group was pathetic looking.  All were at least an inch shorter than the control group and had a dark, green old-looking pigment.  Most were wilting, all were drooping... just sad.  I actually remember feeling guilty for doing that to them.

Btw, I did that experiment in the 8th grade for science fair; way before I had any clue what shrooms were.  But it's an example of using the "everything is connected" mentality to affect the world around you.  It was a clear experience of my consciousness connecting with inanimate life and affecting its growth patterns... which is the kind of stuff you think about/ponder/realize while beshroomed.... if you're me anyway.

Hope that helps clear up what I was talking about earlier.  If not, I'd be more than happy to ramble onwards

I've always thought things like the exact same visual or hallucination between two or more people while tripping helps prove that there is an energy we interact with that is invisible but existent.

There is something outside of our heads that we co-exist with.

Yes I've seen that. But that fucks up the mystery to life.

It may "fuck up" a "mystery to life," but it does not shed light upon the mystery of life.

Duh?

If everything is connected and going towards the same goal [subconsciously] then we have only an illusion of control.

no, everything is connected but that doesnt mean you dont have control. you can control your life and decide what happens around you, which effects others. matter of fact everything you do changes everything, infinitely. cause and effect man. everyones got a choice, some people dont bother to notice and just do what they want.

Living organisms respond to stimuli.
Plants also like classical music.
That doesn't prove much of anything, really.

If you could make a plant grow just by thinking about it, then you might have something.

But, if you are looking for neato and cool connections with plants, read this:

the only "universal truths" i think, is when you fully become to understand yourself, because you and everything else are one, and if you finally understand yourself - you understand everything, and that's when you get a "universal truth", and when you get there, psychedelics are like childs play compared to deep meditation. i like the book "be here now" when he gives his teacher the hits of LSD and he takes them and stays completely sober, because his meditation practices are MUCH more intense then these mere chemical instigators, which is all psychedelics really are, they instigate the mind to perceive things differently, nothing more.

Ya ya ya. we have all heard the stories about the guru's who take psychedelics and feel nothing because they are already their from meditation. I think that's a bunch of bull shit. Sure meditation is wonderful and all and you can definatly reach higher states of conciousness but it's not the same thing as a full blown trip.
