Is all of it in our heads?
    #10827907 -

Are the answers we receive made by ourselves when tripping?

Is the 'everything is connected' just in our heads? Or is questioning the connection the doubt that we should stay away from?

O.o

2nd line. The idea that everything is connected subconsciously.

Okay so what your asking is, is the idea that every conscious being is connected via the part of the mind of which conscious beings are not aware just in our heads. Right?

Yes, the subject/object dichotomy is a false one.

It may "fuck up" a "mystery to life," but it does not shed light upon the mystery of life.

Duh?

If everything is connected and going towards the same goal [subconsciously] then we have only an illusion of control.

Life is far too complex to ever fully explain in words. Words are just words and not much more.

ive asked myself this same question:

i answer it with another question: how can it all be in our heads when were all making the same shit up?  If our thoughts and feeling after a trip are purely random and made up wouldn't we make up different shit.

I think what defeats this question is HIGH DOSES.

Many people describe high doses as having the same effects. If you take a really high dose things that you couldnt think of happening, happen. If you didnt think it was going to happen and didnt implant it subconsciously then it must be the mushrooms speaking.

Psychedelics do not show you anything that isn't already in your head.

Duh. =P

But yes, sadly some people aren't aware of this.  I think OutThisLife was definitely already aware of that fact.  The chemical structure of a drug does not contain words or thoughts.  Some people really believe some weird shit.

nobody's ever been able to reveal the "universal truths"

the only "universal truths" i think, is when you fully become to understand yourself, because you and everything else are one, and if you finally understand yourself - you understand everything, and that's when you get a "universal truth", and when you get there, psychedelics are like childs play compared to deep meditation. i like the book "be here now" when he gives his teacher the hits of LSD and he takes them and stays completely sober, because his meditation practices are MUCH more intense then these mere chemical instigators, which is all psychedelics really are, they instigate the mind to perceive things differently, nothing more.

I'd like to point out how funny it is that you assume everyone knows the "everything is connected" feeling, yet you still question its validity.  It's only natural though.

Peronally, I think experiencing life subjectively through this singular body is "questioning the connection".  Tripping is like going back to the original thought - the connection.  Without the subjective viewpoint there is no ability to question, and be separate from the answer.... this is why the connection while tripping seems so real - you are not asking the question and waiting for an answer, you are receiving both at the same time.

Maybe that makes no sense to some people, and certainly one's trips can be full of answer-less questions and question-less answers, but I feel that basically tripping brings our subjective reality closer to "the source" or the underlying connection in all things.

I don't have any doubts about the feeling of connectedness while tripping, because I had a bit of that feeling/knowledge before I ever tripped.

During my first real experience with shrooms, I saw that life was as I had always thought it was - connected.  I wondered why I didn't see it like that all the time, and really felt more sober than drugged out or tripping.  I remember my friend asking me, as I was pondering the same thought, "Why don't we see like this all the time?"

I don't question the experience because it was direct experience of connection.  Literally everything I experienced that day was experienced as a deep connection between everything.  There was no question in the experience, and in hindsight I could shrug it all off to "drugs" or my mind, but I feel that would be disrespecting the lessons I learned that day.  Whatever caused the experience is really irrelevant to me... in my head or not, walking forward in the wisdom that was shared with me has been most rewarding.

So to answer your first question, I think is kind of rhetorical.  Yes, the answers we receive while tripping are made by ourselves... the connection we see is seen and interpreted by our mind alone.  But if you really experienced connection, then you know that yourself is much more than just your mind, regardless of what your mind has to say about it...
