I used to be pretty big into an MMO, Star Wars Galaxies, thankfully the Devs of that game completely screwed it over, but I did stay a little longer after that just to enjoy the fellowship of the guild I had been in for over 2 years.  I still stay in touch with the whole guild even since all of us have stopped playing the game, which is pretty surreal.

Getting completely immersed in an MMO is a pretty hollow existence, very saddening.  My best friend since around 2nd grade played all kinds of games.  We both got in together, my brother played CS a lot and he got us into it, that pretty much sparked the flame.  We played CS, he got super good, got to around Cal-M with the clan he was with, I stopped playing and transferred to SWG for about 2 years, then came along WoW, he got into the hype, got in the beta and shit, and has been playing ever since.  Its actually a pretty shitty situation I have basically lost my best friend to a fucking game.  It sounds ironic but I am so thankful for getting a drug charge and getting arrested when I was 17, it basically derailed me from the MMO lifestyle, my parents took all my shit, and I learned to go chill with my friends, which was very good, my friend I guess you could say wasn't as fortunate, hes about 20 now, still living with his parents, thats another thing, his parents seem to completely support the habit, buying the latest most badass computer setups for him.  Theres a site online called like WOWaddicts or something like that, it has a bunch of testimonials about WoW ruining there lives, and them overcoming and it shit, funny but at the same time completely terrible.  I've heard of people having there kids taken away due neglect due to them playing WoW all the time and all they have to say is "THANK GOD, there finally out of my hair" and keep grinding, raiding.

Agree. I've gone through phases of playing WOW a lot and the problem most times isn't the game, it's one's addictive personality. If these people weren't addicted to said games, they'd be addicted to something else.

10-15 years, when 3D technology improves to where being jacked into a game or in to the "real" world is in indistinguishable is where we're headed.

WoW is amazing i played it for 4 years. Then one day i stopped.
