NOTE: I will continue updating the daily kins but from here on out I am completely discarding the Dreamspell due to its inexcusable misguidance by its promoter Argüelles and will hereby advocate the authentic Mayan calendar which is currently used by the native Maya people of Central America today.

I didn't know the new year was coming up but I always seem to be able to relate to the mayan descriptions and this one was no different. I had a very interesting revelation last night - what a way to kick off the "yellow self-existing seed year" lol I think this might be a big one :smile:

I've made a real commitment to tune my consciousness of time into the 13 moon calendar this year because I just find myself relating to it so very well! It's so elegant and harmonic simply put, not to mention it gives each day a purpose which really helps me focus my intentions at the beginning of each day.

I make my wages in a call center where I'm constantly required to use the gregorian calendar to set customer arrangements yet I still find myself feeling more connected with the 13 moon map of time. I even have the calendar up at my work desk. I just don't feel a relationship to the 12 month christian calendar anymore, and I've gotten quite tired of using a calendar designed for commerce and business as my own personal map of the year around the sun.

I'm also thinking about not celebrating december 31st this year. I'm coming to feel like there's nothing worth celebrating about a calendar which sole purpose it is to keep the money machine alive, especially when debts aren't reset and business in our civilization remains as usual..

So anyway, I'll be updating this thread with each kin to keep myself including everyone here interested in the time of day and its message. Plus it really helps to learn the meanings of the glyphs and tones by keeping a daily log. Namaste! :tripping:

As far as the revelation goes that I had. I had a kind of out of sorts day - feeling a little sad, disgruntled, etc. I had been thinking about the major problems in my life that I am trying to work through. While biking home from work I realized that this is almost an insult to my beliefs about the world. In order to work through any personal problem I have, the best thing to do is to trust in life that it will work out. All this mental effort that I put in probably just makes it worse! After I thought about this I realized it was a very Taoist outlook.

I've posted a link to the Elias forum a couple times before and talked about how much sense his material makes. I can relate my experience to something that he mentioned about creating your own reality. He said that a lot of people have confidence in the concept of creating their own reality, but they don't have confidence in the reality of it. I think the thing I realized above is sort of bridging a gap to reality creation, but I still am not really *into* the idea of it. For now I need to move my confidence in the idea of an intelligent universe doing its workings to the actuality of it.

I have a limited understanding of the poems themselves and I don't really go by them. I wish they were worded differently because I don't think they're straight to the point -- or not as much as I'd like them to be.. So what I do is just simply take the meaning of the glyph and the meaning of the tone, put the two together and draw out the larger meaning from there. The result is a simplistic interpretation of the purpose and I'm sure there is a lot more that can be read from a particular kin, but I'm by far no expert on the mayan calendar and so I just rest assured with a basic analysis. It's all open to interpretation anyway.

I've come to learn that galactic activation portals are days on the Tzolkin that are particularly intense and specifically potent for channeling information, receiving miracles and free stuff, healing wounds, and laying in the sun. GAPs are thus a kind of amplifier for the DNA where bigger leaps in evolution are likely to take place as the energy of the day is intensified. It's said that they are a good day for being with people, and especially strangers because they happen  to become less strange on GAP days.. :hypno:

Wow I feel you there! I hate the word "faith", but I guess that's what it is. I think it's all about living in the moment, focusing on being as loving of a channel of creation you can be, and following the path the universe presents you.

That paragraph is entirely my own interpretation which I figure by combining the meanings of the glyphs and the tones.

Here is a list of what they each mean.

I have yet to come across any more detailed descriptions than this page which provides the astrological reading of each of the 260 kin.

The rest is seems is up for contemplation.

2009 >>> actually 427 years after Aloysius Lilius, Italian doctor, astronomer, philosopher and chronologist, created the Gregorian calendar.

Now the calendar was not mandated into legal order by Pope Gregory the 13th until after Lilius' death when his brother Antonio presented the calendar manuscript to the pope. The pope made the new calendar law after some modification by Jesuit mathematician Christopher Clavius, who held strictly to the geocentric model of the world (!)

The switch over to the Gregorian calendar was bitterly opposed by much of the populace, as would only be expected with a mandatory calendar change made by the pope. People who still celebrated the new year on the original date were made victims of various pranks on April 1. This may or may have been the origin of April Fools' Day.

So given the linear nature of the calendar, the real year of the Gregorian Calendar is really 427 instead of 2009 anno domini, which is the unofficial global standard.

Via discussion with Middleman I'm coming to discover that the Dreamspell devised by José Argüelles is not an accurate synchronization of the authentic Mayan calendar and is in fact inconsistent with it.

For example today's Dreamspell day is



Blue Rhythmic (6) Storm

But according to the True Count of the Mayan calendar today is really



Blue Planetary (10) Monkey, or

10 Chuen.

Just why the new-age version is not resonating cognitively with the Mayan calendar is because the Dreamspell does not take into account the leap year which causes a 48 day dissonance which after the year 2012 will become a 47 day dissonance.

This completely screws up the meaning of the intentions and energies of creation for each day.

I will continue updating the daily kins but from here on out I am completely discarding the Dreamspell due to its inexcusable misguidance by its promoter Argüelles and will hereby advocate the authentic Mayan calendar which is currently used by the native Maya people of Central America today.

Ben is translated as reed, cane, or staff.

I understand what you mean about feeling the resonance with your dreamspell birth sign. I thought I was Yellow Resonant (7) Star for years and it made so much sense for me... Then I discovered that the Dreamspell count is not even a true Mayan count, that it is a new-age fabrication which bases its structure around the 13:20 formula of the Tzolkin, but is completely dissonant with the authentic count that the Mayans have been keeping for hundred and hundreds of years.

Why the dreamspell inventors Jose Argüelles and his wife Lloydine Argüelles decided to create their own count is uncertain, however it has put the founders in a position of considerable power, especially, when they have gotten many people to follow the dreamspell and synchronize their own lives around its system.

The dreamspell is a disservice to the Mayan culture as it keeps people in the dark about the authentic Mayan calendar by pushing itself in the forefront of Western culture.

I was really shocked when I discovered this and it immediately clicked for me. Your dreamspell birth sign is not your Mayan birth sign. Your true birthsign is the one that is still being counted by the Maya today.

Thanks for the link. I was browsing the Galactic Underworld part of the site and I noticed they have the 7th day ending (ending without transitioning to night) on October 28 2011. If they included the night would it be 12/21/2012?

I noticed in another thread you and Silversoul were discussing this. Did you two ever come to agreement on what the Mayans had as the transition date to the New World(6th Sun I believe?)?

Silversoul brought to my attention the debate between Carl Calleman and John Major Jenkins and I read through the entire exchange. Calleman was not very convincing that the end date of the cycle is on October 28, 2011, in other words he had no substantial evidence to back it up. There is a point to be made that the end of the energetic cycles of the Mayan calendar need to be 13 Ahau (the last kin of the Tzolkin). However December 21, 2012 only ends in 4 Ahau, which is why there is an emerging discussion regarding another date that may be more significant to human consciousness. Calleman's end date does fall on a 13 Ahau, but other than that I have not been able to find any other argument in his favor, other than that he has made alliances with Mayan elder Don Alejandro who Calleman claims rejects the 2012 end date, yet is somehow unable to provide a transcript of that quote. Aside from that political move to push his 2011 end date forward, his date also does not coincide with any interesting astronomy or astrology. It's just plain unconvincing IMO.

I do believe that December 21, 2012 is the legitimate end date, for the long count that is. I don't necessarily think however that the end of the long count equals the point in time when the spiritual biorhythm of human consciousness reaches its peak. That I feel needs to fall on 13 Ahau, as would only make sense to me.

The amount of times 13 Ahau comes around until the year 2012 (kudos to Middleman)

I'm in the camp which believes that the specific end date is irrelevant, because it is the general shift in mass consciousness over the entire period (which has began years ago). So I guess 2011-2013 is specific enough of a focal point hehe

By the Tarot are you referring to the Hero's Journey represented by the 21 cards of the Major Arcana?

I've seen Terrence McKenna's analysis of the I-Ching, or Timewave Zero or whatever he calls it. It's interesting how worldy events match up with it. I've also heard a rebuttal of McKenna, saying he made the I-Ching "fit to work."
