Local Heat Warning for Tomorrow
    #10689674 -

I wonder how our ancestors were able to survive without an official to look after them.

Maybe they were smarter than to live in Las Vegas in July?

That was on of my first thoughts, but it's a trap. Once you post you can never escape.

Let me rephrase: Do you think such a warning will actually save a single life?

They didn't, it was just a different style of offical.  Theirs told them the fire god was angry with them so he lit ablaze the furnace beneath the surface of the earth, and gave them sweltering heat as punishment.  To combat this, several virgins were sacrificed.  Humanity has always kept the number of virgins close to zero, back then they weren't so promiscuous so they had to kill some of them.  C'est la vie.

A Black Hole thread is one of nature's great mysteries.

Yes. I can envision possibilities where people may change their plans. Lots of things called tourists don't really know about living in the desert.

Have you ever been here? Tourists rarely go into the desert. They go from an air conditioned airport to an air conditioned taxi/limo directly to their air conditioned hotel and then on to the air conditioned casino.

On the rare case otherwise, is one unable to feel the heat and for some vesitgial survival instinct to kick in?

What would be better for tourist's health is for some one to kick their fat-asses out of the buffet. A 6' 5" food bouncer should walk over, "Hey Tubby, you have had quite enough! Kindly put down your fork and walk away."

No, I live in the midwest. I know about corn or maize as our ancestors called it.

When I was 19, in 1981, I spent about 10 hours in vegas. It was dark almost the whole time. I played slots, but I was afraid to go to the tables because I was underage.

I knew a kid who won like $8,000. And the casino legally kept it when he went to cash in his chips because he was underage.

So you are against the whole weather warning industry?

On CSI they talk about the flash floods killing people. Are you against warning people about flash floods?

During heat waves in the midwest lots of elderly people die. If only they were warned.

We get lots of tornados, my dad used to make us go in the basemant and hide. I never do that now.

Hurricanes?
