Bulk Tek?

Please bear with me, I have several questions concerning bulk tek's. First off, when sterilizing whole grain rye do you have to use a pressure cooker, or can the PF tek for sterilizing brown rice be used? Now, I may be misunderstanding how to use a ultrasonic humidifier, but I have a 10 gallon tank and was wishing to use one, but the humidifiers that I find are too big for the tank. How would I go about setting up a humidifier for use in such a small tank? From what I gathered, I may be wrong, but once mushrooms begin growing using bulk tek, sterility is not as big of an issue as with PF tek. Is this true? If so, can a small room such as a closet be used to grow mushrooms when using bulk tek and a ultrasonic humidifier?

Yes, you need a PC for grain.

If you are going to be utilizing a small area (10 gallon fish tank) , a humidifier is not needed, perlite and misting and fanning will do fine, in fact, some people don't use anything other than the spawn itself and occasional misting of the walls for humidity.

Sterility is a concern whenever you are growing mushrooms (except maybe an outdoor patch).

Here's a bulk tek that you can spawn with brf/verm cakes!
Recipe:
1.("black gold" Worm casings)
2.Wheat straw( You chop the wheat straw up and put in a ziplock freezer back and fill with water distilled water and let it sit for an hour or two)
3.peatmoss
4.vermiculite
5.Alder shavings
You mix em all together in a large bowl And bake em in a aliminium turkey roaster pan you buy at the store the larger the better. Bake for 1hour at 250-275F then after an hour stir it up and bake for an additional 30minutes.
No youv've sterilized your compost.
As for the exact ingrediant ratio its up to you.
Use about50-60% worm casings as much or little straw as you like use about half a bag per pan more or less
use about a cup or two of vermiculite, Use a decent amount of peat moss two to three times as much verm. Maybe less And use a good amount of alder shavings I believe they contribute alot to mush size. Dont us to much though you add the alder chips dry. Add water to your mixture distilled water till damp or moist not soaking.
You'll have to add more water to your compost after you sterilize distilled of coarse.
Don't get your compost too wet or it may not work appropiatly.
I thinks thats about it.
