Disrupting Patterns and Installing New Programs
    #10646098 -

One thing that I have always found that psychedelics were really useful for disrupting old programming patterns. I used to see their use as a spiritual tool, but eventually I came to see that what made me see the experience as spiritual was, in reality, the interruption of my social programming. Many people become aware of his, but return to the same shit programs they had before and come to see psychedelics as a dead end, but it often occurs that the experience is so powerful that change becomes inevitable and we install a new program to replace the outmoded one. This has happened a couple of times to me. Once one becomes aware of the programming process it is possible to disrupt our programming and install new programs at will...even on the fly.

This week I am being somewhat forced to undergo this process without the use of psychedelics, of course. Another way I have found to disrupt programming utterly is to change your physical location drastically...to the point that your old programs cease to function at all and new programs HAVE to be installed. The trick is to install new programs that are useful. That is completely my challenge this week.

I have sold and given away 90% of my possessions. I have managed to fit it all into a mid-size car with my wife and two dogs. Now I managed to transport all of this about 1800 miles or so (with some difficulty) and I am forced with no option, but to resettle in this new place. My physical fitness, diet, sleeping, and personal hygiene patterns have been thrown into disarray. I will soon be forced to deal with a whole host of new people which will throw my personality programs off as well. Right now I am effectively homeless with a wife AND two dogs. My challenge is to build from this unsteady foundation a series of programs that leads to success personally and financially. My wife faces this same challenge. What the future holds for us I cannot guess, but it will be fun to see what we can get going on!!!

I have been there. Had to move from Chicago to Salt Lake City with my wife and two kids with one on the way. That was rough plus had no work lined up before hand, it was just one of those feelings I get throw out my life that says "Yeah it sounds crazy as all hell but guess what you have to go on blind faith."

Every time I listen to those feelings I narrowly missed disaster and thinks worked out better that I could of planned them. We did move out of SLC not cuase it was bad, fact it was beautiful, but was to much of a culture shook for us to handle. I like to drink and swear and do all the things that Mormons say no to do.

Oh well. I send good wishes and love your way. Relax things will work out as long as you stay positive (just like warding of a bad trip)

But will you be able to get Karl to be dependable on the recall? That's what I want to know. This is my challenge for you. Are you game?

Karl is a challenge. Today I lost my homeless status. Karl is no longer chained, and Karl no longer barks near as much. The dogs in the next lot can even bark at him and he ignores them, so there may be hope yet. I suspect the chain created the problem. Apparently this has disrupted his patterns as well. Now to see if I can install some new ones.

Recently read an essay of Leary's proposing exactly this about psychedelics. Very cool idea, and one I'm inclined to agree with.

Yea I was going to say it reminded me of some things by Leary, like the audio file "How to operate your brain". There is also a nice audio piece on youtube of Terence McKenna speaking about psychedelics in a similar fashion, and from personal experience I would say they were onto something.

Good thread. Good luck on your reprogramming Hue! :mushroom2:

Here's my guess. Karl is now in a fenced yard so no problems with running off. And he's off balance now because he's dealing with the unfamiliarity of new surroundings. Once he settles he will be back to his old ways...... unless..... he gets more quality time with you and this can include training in recall, so he isn't bored and wanting to find some self created adventure. I have found that the more you include your dog in your life physically and emotionally the more they naturally behave and want to hang with you.

So good luck with the training challenge, I'll be checking up on you two. And welcome to AZ. I hope it's a great new adventure.

Yes, this process seems to work with dogs as well as people. It just goes to show that we are mere animals and no more. Now, while I would hesitate to use psychedelics to reset patterns with my dog because he does not possess the higher functions to understand the use of the tool. He may like it, but to him it would likely just be he would feel wobbly for a while and then be his old self again...so this is not my option for resetting Karl's patterns. However, the relocation has hit him as well as me. He seems to have calmed down quite a bit and has neighbors to socialize with. One of his neighbors fits through the tiny crack in the fence as he is quite a small neighbor. This has allowed him more interaction with his own sort. Now I need to start including him in my treks into the local area as you suggested. His barking has vaporized along with his restless nature for the time being. He has also lost weight due to the climate and frequent walks. We also do not give him anything unless he does something for it...he can shake hands, sit up, sit down, and lay down all on command. I believe that you suggested this measure. So, Karl is off to a fine start in his reprogramming efforts.

Re: Disrupting Patterns and Installing New Programs [Re: Huehuecoyotl]

Now with my re-programming there have been strides made. I am settled in a new home. It is not very large (but large enough) and it is very spartan and minimalist. I have established a solid healthy pattern. The sun is up here at 4:30 AM solid every day. So for the last couple of days I have gone for a run at 5AM...just 3 miles, but I will eventually go to 5 miles. I received a painful shoulder injury during my move, and I have had to let the kettlebells alone. Once this has healed 3 days a week it will be kettlebells to break the monotony of running, then I will run 2 to 3 days a week. I have gotten groceries and started to prepare food myself so I am not as tempted to gorge on the unbelievable Mexican food here, but there is much ethnic and local produce available which is causing me to experiment with new foods for increased antioxidant intake while still maintaining a high protein level. Another routine that is emerging is one of being more a part of my community. I am severely in the racial minority where I am at so I feel forced to participate in my community to achieve acceptance. None of us are an island and we all depend on others to assist us for various things so being a member of a social group is a great survival tool when you are really on your own (and I really am) with no relatives or friends. I have socialized with local people here, and I have tried to be helpful. I helped someone push their car out of a ditch the other day. I have been openly social and courteous and this has met with great result. My new home is not a "new" home and is in need of repair. My new landlord seemed somewhat apathetic at first to the way his previous tenants treated the property. I was friendly with him, and I encouraged him and assured him that anything he wanted to improve would be there un-destroyed when I left. I told him that I deal fairly and that I play nice. The next day some guys showed up and commenced to re-model a big chunk of the place. I do not think that this had been planned before our conversation. I have also received encouragement from several people who understood the challenges that I am facing.

Here is a key thing that I discovered a while back. When you break a pattern the very next actions you take are crucial to establishing a newer and more healthy pattern, so the things I am discussing here are important to me. My success and possibly my survival depend on this. So these first few days are important. Now I am no Guru, but there is a true bit of wisdom regarding the re-programmning process.

The advice I offered was free, and severely hard learned (for me) for such a simple thing. I also know it to be true. However, you might not have such a bad idea. I AM in the market for a job and that just might be the line of work I am suited for. The only problem with being a guru is to do it properly one must set a shining example. Most gurus do not. Most have substance abuse problems, ego problems, and severe delusions of grandeur, so they fail and lose their credibility. So, would it be appropriate to get all of that out of the way up front so that my disciples KNOW that I have substance abuse problems, ego problems, and severe delusions of grandeur as well as no credibility (or credit)? How about just being a "fun" guru where we all just have fun and not expect anything too drastic up front. I could give such advice. I am an excellent guy to hang out with while intoxicated and talk about philosophy knowledgeably even if I don't really know shit. I could get paid for that.

Do what I want
And I'm gonna get paid

What happened to your wife? I don't really think you can claim to be on your own with your wife and dogs for support and companionship.

As you probably already know Dr. Lilly was big on metaprogramming one's own belief patterns. It's such a wonderfully interesting yet fully practical subject at best. I dream of doing what you're doing right now at some point in  my life.

My wife is indeed a relative, but at this moment she is not in any position to render assistance because shes float in my same boat as me. Her success and survival hinge to a certain degree on the good will of others as well. I would have noted this, but I assumed it is obvious. I guess I should not assume. In any case your just trying to be difficult because you know all of this more than anyone...just like you sending me PMs about people dying in the desert....

Disrupt old patterns, good, installing new one to replace, bad!

Why replace with a new one?

Be as you Are, any program can not be me

I see beings complaining about being conditioned programmed etc, i laugh while i know they are free all the time, simply see you are not the program, immense freedom awaits, but its not even waiting.

You are That

You need programs in order to be able to do stuff, you know, like reading, crossing the street, or posting on the Shroomery.

I need a program to post here, your probably right, but i dont see that I AM the program which is posting, it simply plays out infront of me

Its very playful & light, not so serious so that i have to be 'programming'

The program is pre-programmed to play as it will, i am not the programmer or the program, i am Aware of both so how can i be defined by either?
A contantly changing image changes infornt of unchanging Seeing, which are you? The image or the Seer of the image?

Take your finger out the cogs of the machine & it wont get chopped off

FREEDOM!!!

I never stated that one is nothing more than a program, but this doesn't mean that the program is somebody else than oneself, to that it is created by someone else than the person using it.
Of course, I have no clue why you posted the way you did and what exactly you're trying to say. so I'll just take my best guess.

Explain how this makes any sense. Basically you're saying that you can't be anything you're aware of, making it sound like you know what you're talking about. Maybe you'll care to explain.
IMO there's no contradiction in being both the programmer and the program, AND being aware of these qualities, along with the many other one has.
