humidifier + timer
    #1053010 - 11/14/02 05:42 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

I have a humidifier - last year i used a series of coke bottles to 'dry the mist' before I piped it into the terrarium for my cakes.
This year I'm trying casings. They're almost ready to go into the chamber, and I'm practising with my setup.

The best timer I could find lets me have minimum 20 mins on at a time. I'd rather do without all the extra bottles - how should I best set the timer so I can maintain a steady environment? I have the MMGG (PF tek) which suggests a timer may reduce the need for drying stages, but would love to hear advice from previous experimenters.

Don't feel that you have to post a 'cool' quote at the end of all replies. I'm English. Probably that means I'm a dag, or a straight, or something. i can live with that. Woo-hoo! (or something)

casings need less humidity. plus a casing is pretty wet itself so it will provide humidity to the fruiting chamber. so chances are you may not need the humidifier at all. you might want to use an aquarium air pump blowing into some water or maybe even just a pan of water or wet perlite sitting in the chamber.

thanks. and can I crumble all my cakes into the same terrarium, and forget about a casing container altogether?
