I've read quite a lot about people saying not to use an ultrasonic humidifier. I find this is just not so, the trick is to properly dilute the water vapor. Use 2 methods. 1. First make sure your humidifier is above the terranium, use gravity, plug the end of the spout that shoots out the steam, drill a hole in top and insert a hose run that to a 2 liter bottle with the cap off and facing down., from there run another hose into your terranium. Both holes in the 2 liter should be cut exactly even from each other. When the mist comes out in your terranium you should just barley be able to see it. Make sure to angle your cuts in the hose. 2. Buy a 10 dollar electric timer set the humidifier to run in intervels, also add some fish tank cleaner to keep the bacteria out of the humidifier. Basicly just fuck with it till you get the humidity right. Also by drilling a hole in the bottom of your terranium you never have to vent it, the pressure from the humidifier pushes out the co2 which sinks to the bottom and out the hole Its fully auto so you can leave for a days with no worries. I'd never mist a day in my life just opening the terranium is more trouble for contaminents then putting a little extra work into a sonic humidifier set up.

At first I tried complicated humidifier setups and got pissed off cause it didn't work all that well. I've found that perelite works great and I can leave things for weeks no problem. Also, I use an air pump with a filter to provide fresh air into the tank.
