why don't people like hippies?

Aside from some having hygiene issues, why don't people like hippies?  I don't get it.  Maybe I share too many 'hippie' values to not be able to take on the anti-hippie perspective, but damn, what is so bad about being a 'hippie'?

From my experience people hate hippies because generally hippies don't give a shit about anything .

that seems to be the general hippie attitude. but in america we are taught that you have to over dramatize about everything -------which is another reason I think many people hate marijuana- but that's just one reason that I love it :potleaf:

Their views on: Politics, society, music, work, human interaction and human nature, the world.
I could probably think of a few more but the biggest one falls under "society" I suppose. Hippies are pretty fucking condescending too in my experience.

Exactly.  They seem to be all about peace, love and harmony so why all the negativity thrown their way?

Maybe it's like Bill Hicks said, all the people who tell us that it's just a ride get killed.  Maybe the part of us that is attached to dwelling in the negative hates the opposing forces, entities, or ideas, the things that tell us or make us think "hey, maybe we shouldn't take life so seriously and instead try to enjoy it a little bit more instead of stressing"

I think maybe hippies and their values (along with psychedelics) just challenge the security of our society's structure, and people are scared of the change.

Hippies are retards!

I can't stand alot of the "hippies" around my area because they are mostly just assholes that think they are better than everyone because of the way they choose to live their life.

Sounds just like everybody else in the world though...

Hippies oppose materialism. The U.S. is all about materialism. That's probably the main reason.

Everything they stand for is against the status quo. it's inevitable that they are hated

exactly my beef with hippies, most(of course not all) aren't very accepting of other peoples ideas. Just like Christians! :crankey:

what is a hippie anyway? i've been called a hippie, but i disagree!

sure i smoke pot, occasionally eat psychedelics, don't own many  material possessions, dont put a whole lot of time into my physical appearance, etc.

but im not a goddamned hippie!
