Real deal pachanoi?
    #10426855 -

What do you think? Is this the real pachanoi or one of the backbergs or other variations?

I think its a real one, but I guess you cant ever be too sure.

What gave it away?

I got some more reading to do, I read that page and compared the pics.

Maybe reading isnt what I need to do, I think once you have both the cactus in real life you can get to know their differences better.

are the backbergs ethnos or just an ornamental?

Either way, its one of my favorite cacti, I can touch it without being poked. :poke:

Well, without any formal tests, Most people use the backbergs as baseline potency.  Cuzco/KK242 is weaker (if active at all).  Juuls is also said to be sometimes inactive.  (I'll reserve judgement till I've tried it myself.)  While bridgesiis are said to be more potent.  (and possibly a darker trip.. if you buy into such a thing)

yeah the darker trip thing seems right on..........
with Torch I felt great and energetic and got light color pattern effects and stuff......
with Bridgesii I made the mistake of watching a really scary horrer movie while the peak started and I got really dark and sinister visuals for hours and hours and I had to lay in bed the whole time almost.  The visuals were almost as pronounced as Aya visuals but not quite and they were more swirly and flowing.  It was like my visuals took on the horrer movie graphics that I was watching.  And after like 6 or 8 hours or so I puked hard. Never puked from Torch or even came close.

Bridgesii has always been my favorite cactus, for both ornamental purposes and eating :awesome:

yep
one more thing I wanna add....
that was the last time I tripped and it was a few years ago now almost
But the funny thing is this....  a lot of psychedelics when they start to come down they leave ya like "what thats it? the rides over?".
well with Bridgesii I came down mentally fulfilled lol
perhaps theres significant potential for addiction recovery kinda like Ibogaine
oh and sorry Lazy I dont mean ta jack :frown:

Is there something wrong with this type? As far as potency goes lets say?

It's perfectly adequate as far as potency goes.

Well lets say genetically speaking,

This is still a trichocereus pachanoi right?

Or is it a hybrid, or totally different, unclassified?

It is the standard.  Most common Trichocereus in the US by far.  Probably upwards of 95% or so of pachanoi that people have in the US is this clone.  The other 5% is mostly either funky-looking pachanoi hybrids grown from seed or different pachanoi variations/locations/clones which you will only find in Tricho-heads collections. :peace:

To the general public, yes this is the definition of pachanoi.

To the basic entheo-community, yes this is the definition of pachanoi.  When someone says pachanoi, this clone is what they're talking about.

However among real collectors of Trichocereus its lineage is debated.  The title of pachanoi is given to the forms of pachanoi originating in South America (mostly Peru and Ecuador).  The clone that is very common in the US shows some differences from native pachanoi and more interestingly, to my knowledge has not been found growing in pachanoi's native range.

So possibly it could be a variation of pachanoi, it could be a natural native (South American) hybrid, or it could be a hybrid developed by man completely outside its native range (possibly US?  Europe?).  Or it could be native, non-hybrid, and not pachanoi.  And if it is a hybrid, is it mostly pachanoi?  Mostly bridgesii?  Or something else?

It's all speculation, we'll probably never really know for sure.  But is it the standard and the "real" pachanoi to most people. :peace:
