Do all Backbergs have 7 ribs?
    #16473513 -

I have what many people have described to me as a backberg san pedro, however upon deeper thought on the matter of a predominant cultivar i realized that all cacti ive seen which pup have the same number of ribs on every pup, and the number of ribs on a cactus doesn't change when it gets cloned, so doesnt that mean that all backbergs would have seven ribs?

The reason i ask this is because i recently got some pedro cuttings which have six ribs (and the spines look a bit strange) so im left to assume its either not a backberg, or not a pachnoi at all.

Heres a pic of all my cuttings, the ones closest to the camera are the 6 ribbed pedros of which i speak, all rooting, the one farthest back is the "backberg" pedro, showing some new growth :]

Please :pm: me if you have any interesting cacti seeds for trade/sale/giveaway  U.S only..

The philosophy of Backsberg remains that of providing pleasure and enjoyment to a broad range of wine lovers by producing wines not only with structure and finesse, but with a high level of “drinkability”.

FYI cacti can grow or lose ribs at any given time. It's rarely set in stone.

Yup. I hav edragonfriit which sprouted with three ribs and then grow four. Ive had ones which started with four go to three. I've had Lophs gain a rib and I have heard of them losing them though I've not seen happen.

If it loses a rib once in a whle, it's no biggie. It usually comes back within the next couple years. If they start losing more than that, I'd make a thread about it and look into things!
