Still looks nice. You could cut the tip and root it.

Yeah, aside from the etiolation they are quite healthy.
I know about removing and potting the arm, and I've been meaning too since it was about 6 inches shorter...I've been afraid of killing it, it's humid, I'm afraid of while I'm letting it scab over it will get mold or fungi, I was wanting to wait until winter when it's a bit more dry, but I actually need to repot these all fairly soon, so I'm goin to do it then.
I eventually want to graft one of my lophs onto one of my trichs, but that's a project for a far further future date....

that's a very straight pup. Impressive. I would leave it as it is, but give It better light.

if you are worried about mold or fungi, leave a fan blowing on the cut for 24 hours. It will keep those issues away. Then leave it to finish callousing for 2-3 weeks.

The only reason why I hesitate to leave it as is, is because it's making the base slant at a 45° angle...well maybe not that steep, but I'm worried about the stability of the base...
At the same time, it would be a shame to disturb it, it seems happy....
Have you ever seen an arm topple a base?

I have not. If you are worried about something like that, give it a larger pot for better root system and support. Also you could stake up the plant while it roots more.

I am a Shaman, and I would like to add that there is religious significance to the numerology of cactus Symmetry (3 ribbed. 4, 6, 7, and so on). For some: The 4 winds, 4 corners, or 4 points, or 4 Directions is reflected within the body of the sacred cactus, its self. I know many people (dose) their ethnogens, but some of us also (Worship) them.
Yes, it can be a selling tactic to get people to buy something. I urge people to keep an open mind. some of us have our interests in these cacti for various reasons. some scientific, some substance related, some religious interest.
At the very least, and has been stated.. in its current 4 rib-state. .it is still a very nice plant to have in a collection.

Good to hear, it actually has a large root system, but it has begun to lean at an angle, I think I'm just going to root the arm fairly soon here...
Thank you for all the advice,

I love my cacti but I don't worship them. That is just a bit far out for me.
