Yeah I just first heard of Neaera tonight, Last.fm recommended me it and I was going to the bar so I figured I'd DL some of their stuff. 

It's pretty good, really heave on the double base and really powerful breakdowns.

Those are a few of the bands I listen to that I could think off the top of my head. I have SO many more bands but I don't feel like searching my collection :tongue:

Melodic death metal is the fucking bomb! I can never get tired of Dark Tranquility, Mors Principium est, Kalmah style bands. Their fucking epic!

I haven't been listening to as much metal lately as I usually do. Been listening to a lot of electro actually..
I guess 15+ years of being a diehard deathmetalhead can get a little old and you need some variety.
That being said, what I listen to most would be...

I used to be really hardcore against anything even remotely labeled close to "nu-metal".. but this was during the whole slipknot/korn/limp bizkit era and all the wannabee clones.
Then I opened my mind a little and gave some of them a chance.. some metalcore is pretty good. But nu-metal can still suck my nuts. 

I have to laugh my ass off at some of these noob kids I meet that ONLY know metalcore, and when I ask them about Death, At the Gates, In Flames, Megadeth, etc.. they just give me this puzzled look like :wtf: ... know your roots motherfuckers!! That shit wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for the pioneers. And before them.. Sabbath, Zeppelin, Motorhead, etc.. going all the way back to blues and fucking classical. It's all connected.. everyone influences everyone else..

i'm more of a classic metal head but I have many varied tastes

Zakk Wylde & Black Label Society was my first favorite (hence zSDMF) so that will hold a very special place in my heart forever, especially his Book of Shadows, Pride & Glory and Sonic Brew.  Those albums, while the first 2 may not necessarily be considered metal, are fucking epic and flawless.

Pantera is my second love.  There is not a day that goes by that I don't listen to CFH, Vulgar Display, and FBD in its entirity.  No joke.

Metallica is a third.  Just like with BLS and Pantera I listen to Metallica every single day.  I can hum the entire Master of Puppets album in beat and tempo with no backing drums or anything, from beginning to end.

Right now i'm huge into Dark Tranquillity.  I love that band so much.

I've been following Children of Bodom pretty much since their beginning (I was huge in the piracy scene when it first got big in the late 90s-early 00s).  CoB is a band I have watched grow from a very raw, unpolished but extremely talented band to a band that puts out solid studio albums consistently and puts on a FLAWLESS live show every single night.

Shadows Fall is another biggie.  I don't care what anyone thinks of them; every album, even the newest, contains BRUTAL riffs and drum patterns and they write good songs.  I wish mainstream would actually pick up on them..

I could type like this for hours and hours.

I have all their albums and they all kick ass! Their one of my favorite bands alongside Mors Principium est.

I recently, after kicking dope and waking the fuck up, rededicated myself to my favorite and best hobby, guitar.  I took a 5 year break to do drugs and be an idiot, now i'm back to 6 hour woodshed sessions playing the same pentatonic ten thousand times in a row.

as far as nu-metal or a fusion of the two goes....
