I love metal and used to find bands through a few friends but have lost touch with all of them since I returned to college.

So I'm behind about two years and keep finding shitty american scene bands from my roomate.

You have any suggestions for some awesome metal?

What kind of metal do you like? I made a couple big lists of awesome bands in a couple other threads here, you should search it.

Check out Immortal, Dark Funeral, Dark Throne, Gorgoroth, Old mans child, Kroda, Kalmah, Insomnium, Dark Tranquility, Mors Principium est.


I'm going out now so I don't have time to make a list with vids and all.

Thats weird... I was gonna make a thread about how shit metal is. I was a major metalhead a few years ago but I realised how gay it actually is. It's just the way how every metalhead gets so defensive about their favourite sub-genre and how people argue whether a song is 'death core' or 'grind core' or 'death grind'

I took a pill and realised that metal sucks. Psytrance ftw! :awecid:

Augury, Decrepit Birth, old Cryptopsy (new shit sucks balls, stupid fucking metalcore),

You like folk metal at all? Eluveitie, Arkona, Turisas, all good shit.

Then there's 3 Inches of Blood, Amon Amarth is putting out great new shit, Decapitated's drummer died, but their still kick ass music all the time, uhh...Bloodbath's new album with Michael Akerfield is alright, I dont think it's as good as when they had Hypocrisy's vocalist but you can decide that. Ooh, and Deicide, Kreator, some damn good thrash.

Children of bodom sucks ass now, they sound like every other fuckin metal band out there, lost their roots. Nightwish's new stuff is alright, really symphonic. I won't even get into all the black metal and shit out there...

It's true that all metal sucks?  I mean, I grew out of my "let's exclusively listen to metal and mock all other genres as inferior" phase a long time ago but I still crank some chugging riffs and screaming solos every now and then.

Personally, I'm not butthurt, or a metalhead, but I do think coming into a thread just to bash it is incredibly immature and ignorant.


take Radiohead, for example, I think they are extremely overrated, and don't deserve to be classified as "psychedelic" whatsoever, but I'm not going to go into Radiohead threads to talk trash, I'm just going to stay out of it. It just doesn't accomplish anything but argument and negativity.

Make a thread about how metal sucks, if you wish, but don't detract from the subject matter, which is the OP looking for decent metal to listen to. You saying that metal sucks contributes absolutely nothing. It would be more productive to randomly talk about politics or the weather, than it would to start up a negativity-fest
