? about Pere. Grafts
    #10205668 -

Hey all I just started trying out some seedling grafts with some P.S. I have.  I am having a bit of trouble with the juices of rootsock pushing the scion off. I have the whole graft in a 2 liter so their probably %100 humidity.

I've done some reading and most of that has stated you want the rootsock to be app. 6 inches so I'm not sure if I just need to let my P.S. grow a bit longer. Thanks in advance for the reply's

dont water it for awhile before grafting so it will dry out the stock a bit

Yeah, looks like the stock was just too full of liquid. Not a bad thing for the stock, but bad for grafting

The trick is to have just enough moisture so that the scion "glues" to the stock. Too little, it wont stick. Too much, the scion floats away.
In general, I find that about a week of not watering does the trick.

good advice gentleman, watering the stocks a few days prior to grafting so the juices are sticky is the way to go.

you could lower the humidity somewhat also, it's not neccessary to have it at 100% at all.
remember you need air flow post grafting so the cut surfaces can begin to heal, a 100% humidity environment with no airflow will hinder this process and invite infection.
try putting some decent sized air holes in the bottle or cut the top off completely, 70%-80% humidity is more than sufficient IME.

Thanks guys guess I got a bit confused with all the tutorials out their stating you want the rootstock well hydrated.  Guess I just need to strike the right balance.
I recut the rootstock and put another loph on top except I added a bunch of holes to the top of the 2liter and took the lid off seems to be working so far. We'll see....

Thanks for all the fast responses!
