First Peres Graft
    #11004148 -

I finally got around to doing a Lophophora to Pereskiopsis seedling graft after cultivating Pereskiopsis for the last 4 years since I received my first cutting. I had always planned on grafting but life got in the way, so I just kept cultivating a small amount of Peres. for when the time to graft came.

Well I finally did a graft in Late July and it took successfully. Everything was going fine for the first few weeks until the leaves started falling off. Now they are all gone :-( but it hasn't seemed to slow growth any.

Here are the pics (Taken last Sunday):

Its Siblings:

Is this a good amount of growth for about 1 and 1/2 months? Especially considering it hasn't had any leaves for the last 3 weeks, which is when it has really taken off and grown the most. I guess the stem is enough on its own for fast growth. It's even bigger now than those pics of it from last week. Maybe I'll take some newer pics today and upload them.

Anyone know why it would lose its leaves? I did let the soil dry out a little too much a couple of times. Maybe that's what caused the leaves to fall off???

I have another graft in the humidity tent and it seems to have taken. I want it to keep its leaves though damnit!

The dry soil is the likely culprit for it losing the leaves. The growth isnt bad at all for a month and a half.. especially considering alot of the time the grafts stall (IME) for up to.. well lol, awhile, before showing any growth at all.

Good job, the graft looks nice and healthy and shouldnt slow down much until its at least 2-3x as big as it is now.

Thanks!

Yeah I figured the leaves started falling when the soil dried out...

Sorry to hear about your grafts stalling a lot Methadone...

Oh btw, I used to be a methadone addict. So glad I don't have to go to the clinic every morning anymore ;-). lol.
