yes i agree (Opuntia), but there are a couple good articles about it and it "looks" very promising...and looking at how much surface area they have to absorb light (WAY better than pereskiopsis!!!!) and their incredibly fast growth....they seem like a good stock...but mine keep shriveling. i had 1 that almost made it, i cut off every areole on the opuntia and it lasted for 2 months then shriveled...:(

Someone chose Opuntia as their favorite...who was it. raise thy hand and confess your sins!

well i had it in my grow box and the sun burned tip that you can see was the only one growing (6 months), then it got burned (hps).

so i took it out and placed it on my windowsill it threw off pups and is growing alot better, also the water doesn't evap from the heat off the hps , so it stays moist/wet longer which it likes :0)

as you can see the new pups have outgrown the first sunburned pup and it has only been a few months

sounds like light and/or heat plays a big role....

yep i have a few with some nasty spines, when they go it is like taking a fish hook out of my skin, i got a few cylindropuntia off of ebay as texas cholla :-))

i keep meaning to find myself some, i went out and got a couple of little pilocereus stocks this afternoon but i forgot to look for the cylindropuntia :foreheadslap:
