Ever outgrow your friends?
    #10187047 -

I love my friends, mostly because they are familiar. We've been through shit together over a long period of time, grew and changed. We are comfortable around each other, and accept each other, and thats ok. We can talk a bit when were 1 on 1...

However, we have totally different interests and lifestyles. I have virtually no interest in "hanging out" like i used to.

I need friends who like doing things outside, who like being creative, and having good conversations, and doing all sorts of things. It would be nice if my friends asked me how im doing and actually cared, something beyond "hows it going..."

I just knew i need to cut myself off, cept a few hours a week. Ever be somewhere, where you need to get fucked up just to tolerate it? - thats how hanging out with my friends is...

I dont know how to meet new people really...

The people at work are consumer/tv people, same with the people at school.

Seems like the only "social place" is the bars, and i dont do that.

Can anyone relate to this?

It's hard to meet good solid people, don't know what to tell you, it just takes time. Just stay active in whatever interests you and eventually you'll find some people to hang out with besides your old friends.

Yep, there's nothing wrong with outgrowing your friends.  Don't completly cut ties or burn bridges though.

I totally feel you on this.  I no longer spend a lot of time with a friend of mine that I've had from 5-12th grade;  we just found diff crowds and grew apart.  Every time we chill it's months in between and we end up talking about the same old shit.  I feel bad for not calling him but we're a part of 2 completely different crowds now.

I've been feeling alot like that lately.  It seems I'm so used to the same kind of people those are the only friends I can make anymore.

like the only way I know how to hang out with someone is either smoking weed or doing some other type of drug with them.  Its starting to get old and I'm finding it hard to find people like myself.

Hopefully I'll find some like minded people at some festivals or somethin this summer.

I have been through this many times and still encounter it. People grow and change. I have found that rather than holding it against them I just to move on and the ones that are really important usually circle back around. I am the type of person that is very sentimental and gets hurt if I don't get replies but that is just life. I have recently learned to just let go and love and amazingly enough the friends that I cared most about have reached out to me in their own time. We all have our own schedules and learning curves and if its meant to be we will come together again.

All mine have moved on to better places, some never matured, and plenty I've simply stopped liking after many years. I currently only have four real friends left my town. My move next week will give me a fresh start.

I've just stopped hanging out with any of my old friends,

I have a friend who I've known since High School, and I love the guy to death.  But god bless him, he's just not the sharpest knife in the drawer.  Sometimes when we hang out, I feel like I'm babysitting him.  Another friend of mine is a redneck who loves NASCAR and votes Republican.  I generally try to avoid discussing politics with him whenever possible.  Sometimes I feel like we're drifting apart, particularly since what used to unite us was smoking pot, which I no longer do.  In a very real sense, we have drifted apart, since I've moved to a different state.  But whenever I come back to visit, I still enjoy hanging out with them.

I didn't notice anything weird about my friends, until I went traveling and spent some time away from them. I have not felt the same around them since returning, mainly because we just have grown in separate directions.
Probably the best solution is to just keep on doing what you love, and through that you meet more people, who may share your interests.
Always told growing up that most of the friends won't last the later years, but I didn't actually think it was true.

Just don't end the friendship all together, you'll find that you will grow apart, only to grow back together multiple times throughout your life, and it's those friends that you know you can rely upon for anything, even if you don't necessarily see them all the time.

i grow away from my friends quickly.  sometimes a couple weeks after making them.

except by growing away from, i mean i grow more into myself and i forget other people.

then i snap out of it a couple months later and make new friends for a day/month.

i miss a bunch of my old friends.  i wish i wasn't a terrible one.

Obsolutley man. Me and my 2 best friends can hardley relate to eachother. Slowly we see eachother less and less as we try to establish some kind of life in the world. We all have different interests and whatnot, but sometimes we all have lunch together or just kick it for a while.

Heres a song to help ya through it
