sand or verm?

does anyone know of a website that has coarser type vermiculite? the only crap i can get around here is WAY too fine and id probably get quicker colonization using sand! thanks for your help :grin:

umm im not sure about online sources.. but I had major trouble finding some myself.. I searched ever little nursery and store I could find. Lowe's is the only one I found who carries it. So if you got one around.. look there.

Hmm that's funny. I think all the big verm rocks are out here. There's a store that carries a kind of verm with pieces the size of grapes. Go with the sand

I had the same problem, the verm is just a tiny bit larger than sand. I went ahead and used it. 30 days later one jar is fully colonized. The others are almost done and its been like 40 days now! that fine verm slows growth by like 35% to 50% but no choice if its alll u got!
