coarse always worked better 4 me, but on such a miniscule scale it really doent matter. I heard from a fellow myco that fine verm works as a better dry barrier, any truth in that?

fine verm is good for a dry layer but poor as a substrate. it slows mycellum growth cause theres so little space and air and the mycellum has to squeeze thru the micro gaps. also the jars have a spotty pattern 1/2 colonized, 1/2 uncolonized.

I am living proof. my mycellum has been growing almost a month but damn, the fine verm has slowed the growth by 1/3 to 1/2 because the spaces are too small. Thats like trying to grow weed in in the 2-litter coke bottle! itll grow but much slower and stays small. I have no choice b/c this verm is all I can find. till I find verm half the size of a pea, I must use sand-sized verm
