There isn't any reason assault rifles should be available to the public.  All you people talking about militias make me :rofl2:, because there is no way in hell any state or even ALL the states could muster a force that is superior to the US Govt's military.

Very wrong in assuming a civilian force would fight the US military in conventional warfare.US forces hell ANY conventional millitary doesn't have a very good record against guerrilla warfare. Now imagine one many many times larger that what the military has ever seen and with much higher education,training,marksmanship,manufacturing knowledge and capability ect. Imagine what engineers and computer geeks could do for detonators or delivery systems for IED's. Hell you are right we might not even need AW's.:lol:


Your argument is flawed from the beginning anyways. Rifles are only used in 3% of gun crimes.Thats' from a data the FBI collect yearly. And from another source i know the top 10 guns used in gun crimes are pocket handguns with magazine capacity's under 10rds. Pretty much the opposite of a AW.:lol: Admit it you just think they are scary don't you. Feel good legislation based on things you don't understand just like drug war zealot's :stonedjerk:

what differentiates the civilians from the police, the feds or
the military, the ability to handle a weapon? the ability to
maintain the weapon? the ability to retain the weapon? a license
to kill with impunity? mental and emotional stability?

I can cite you plenty of instances where cops have snapped or
simply become over zealous in the execution of their duties 
some whom were not even authorized to carry a weapon, I can show
you many instances where the FBI and the ATF were incapable of

killing sprees or just committed outright murder in addition to
other crimes... I ask again, why should civilians not have the

I'm a military veteran slick.  Over the years I've used quite a lot of automatic weapons.  Keep throwing useless statistics out though, because I'm basing my opinion, and it's low, off the general public.  As has already been said, the rigors of getting an AW are huge already but what's more to the point is what AWs and assault rifles are used for, and that's killing people.  The type of technology involved in weaponry is vast and much more complicated than when the constitution was written.  Where did I mention conventional warfare?  Take your petty little sarcastic shit spewing elsewhere, it makes you look like a child.
