monotub lookin sexy....I think?

started this spawn run 4 days ago(my first grow!!!). the sub is 1 brick coir and 2qts spent coffe. going to put a casing layer of str8 vermic once fruiting is introduced.


my question is: does everything look ok as for the myc. it seems a little fluffy but thick in the middle. have been reading alot about cobweb. any1 think this may have some cob?

Looks good to me those look like healthy knots but its a lil far away fo me got some crappy eye site but good job so far hope all goes great.:thumbup:

i don't see any cobweb. it looks like you didn't use enough spawn. Good and bad  it will take longer to colonize the extra time gives contams a chance to get a foothold. I would use wax paper and forget the casing layer.

Looks pretty normal to me.  For casing I'd suggest you use a 50/50+ mix rather than just vermiculite.  Peat moss / verm  ph adjusted with lime.  But, if this is your first grow I would suggest you fruit it uncased, and on your next project experiment with casing.  Getting casing just right... especially if you haven't grown before might not end up well for you.  I'm sure you wouldn't want to screw up the grow after putting as much effort into as you have.  Fruit it uncased, pay attention to it, learn.  Then go bigger and better afterwards.

Besides, yield difference between casing and not casing is negligible.  You're only gonna make yourself wait longer for harvest, and risk further contamination if you case.

2.this tub(have 2 going) only has 4 qrt jars of rye to 1 brick coir/2qts spent coffee. bottom layer is about 1-1 n half inches. spawn layer only like 1/2inch. top layer only like 1/2-1inch(had a little experiment/mistake. shot up the jars right after pcing. my teks didnt say wait. and shot up 4 out of 5 to see if the spores survived. HELL NO THEY DIDNT :crazy2)
3.this is pink buffalo from lil shop
4. not openning until i introduce fruiting conditions. from what ive read u lose humid. and give it fae witch i dont want right now.

I would also suggest you to not case it, casing is basically a micro climate that is used to hold extra humidity in.  If you are doing a mono tub there is really no reason to case, IMO you should case if you were going to use a greenhouse or a shotgun or pmp.

couldnt i just leave it the way it is till i introduce light/fae. i have the plexeglass top covered and the holes on the side covered also(this would do the same thing the paper would do right. keeping the c02 leave high?). humid. droplets on the wall so thats good....and the only reasond i was considering a casing layer was because i didnt add vermic. to my sub because it didnt arive by the time i was ready. i know PATIONS!!!!!!!!!! :nogame:

either the casing layer or the wax-paper is to be applied after your tub is fully colonized.

the waxpaper doesn't have the function to keep the CO2 level high, it's the high humidity close to ground level we are after.

so either way, wait till all the surface is covered with good looking mycelium and then caser or put on the waxpaper.

ooo ok i understand now. we ll see how it looks when its fruit time. if it still looks moist in there im just gona set it n forget it if not maybe ill do a casing layer. probley not though. alot of sneaky hard work went into these tubs dont wana do anything to f them up.
