Yeah the Jewish girl I slept with (see other thread) was just like that. I think it's stupid when people use sushi to 'enhance their image'. Although I do like it when people like sushi so I can have an excuse to eat more.

If someone honestly says they like sushi because it's foreign and exotic then they're pretty dumb. Sushi is everywhere. Maybe if you live in some sort of cultural black hole it might be hip and trendy, but outside of restaurants like Sushi Rock it's just food. I do understand the sentiment towards people that "love sushi" but only eat california rolls and tempura. But I think that's where a lot of people start and then you have to work your way up to other things. It's ok if your tastes aren't "exotic" as long as you're willing to try new things.

Maybe its because I live thousands of miles away from any ocean, but all the sushi I've ever tried was disgusting.

Actually sushi from frozen fish is terrible...

But it is less likely for you to get a parasite from sushi than a cheeseburger if it is properly prepared.

Actually most sushi places get their fish delivered on ice.
Freshwater fish generally has all sorts of parasites and needs to be cooked or frozen..
This is why the Japanese generally only eat cooked salmon
Saltwater fish with scales can be eaten raw all day long

You are right that the freshwater fish is more likely to have parasites than salt water.
You are right that freshwater fish should be cooked or frozen.
You are right that the Japanese generally use saltwater fish.
You are right that the fish is delivered on ice.

But the fish is generally not frozen, only chilled.

And salmon is a saltwater fish.

Girls say they eat sushi cus it's a fit healthy food that they can douse down on as much as they want unlike watching calories and all that crap in cheeseburgers, simple as that, and oh yeah sushi can be really facking delicious, I only like rolls though, not straight up slab of fish on a little rice

Primarily they are saltwater fish, yes, salmon can survive in fresh water (all Salmon spawn in fresh water and thus also migrate up rivers to reproduce). Salmon traversing rivers backward (even up waterfalls) is a well known phenomenon.

But it is very rare for salmon to live exclusively in fresh water; think about it, one of the most famous species is the Atlantic salmon. That ain't no lake.
