That whole tray costs $6 at the Japanese market.
Fat ass chunks of tuna and delicious wedges of avocado
The packets inside are ginger and wasabi.

I tried it for the first time last night, I ate some kind of crab thing and it was pretty gross. I couldn't get myself to try the tuna things.

Here's something for ya, KC. This came from a local grocery store.... sushi is so prevalent on the islands that you can get pretty good rolls at the store. It's a great snack after work, post 4:20 and pre-supper.

mmmm, sushi! I'm probably the only hick-ass, redneck that dig's it out here. I'm about 26 or so miles outta Cleveland, and whenever I'm in town, me and the wifey hit up a good sushi joint. (Surprisingly, Cleveland has a shitload of way-fine establishments-for ANY type of cuisine) There are a ton of good sushi joints in Cleveland. There's even a Sushi Rock Cafe over by the Hard Rock. I feel gay as hell going in there, but they gotta few killer items I dig, like the Spicy Crunch (spicy tuna, yellowtail, salmon, spicy sauce and crunchy tempura scallion) and the Crazy (Unagi, avocado, masago and cream cheese deep fried).

/me fiends for sushi.
You guys are killing me with those pictures. Makes me want to go over to the sushi buffet up the street.
There is this awesome Asian place that has all you can eat sushi. You pay and you can go to the tables, which are loaded with 100s of different kinds of sushi and other seafood. I'm too poor for that now, it's a pretty expensive place, but worth it. Especially when i fill up a doggie bag with pounds of it on the way out!

i love sushi, though i dont eat it often enough to know the names of the ones i like. i havent eaten any sushi i didnt like so i guess its not that important. when i do go out for sushi, i usually get the sampler platter or something similar, with a variety of different types of shit. mmmmm, sushi
not only does it taste good, but if i eat enough of it i get high. ive always thought it kind of weird but the more people i talk to about it the more i find out its not that uncommon. never figured out exactly why though, but that doesnt really matter much either.
i remember one time while i was in vegas, me and my buddies went to an all you can eat sushi bar. i stuffed myself until i threw up it was so good. then as we were leaving i found myself stumbling all around, running into parked cars and the like. felt kind of like a mild drunk mixed with a moderate opiate buzz.

i go to a local sushi restaurant and sit down at the bar, ask for the all you can eat in one hour special for 25 bucks, and eat like 75 dollars of sushi. everyonce in a while, when i get a hankerin'. the only thing is, i dont feel so good afterwards.

The aphrodisiac sushi is: Unagi (eel), Uni (urchin), and Masago (smelt eggs) .. and wasabi.
My former boss made a dish with all four of those things mixed together.. with rice and poke sauce.. he called it sushi viagra. "Give you POWER ! Make you go all night!"
My absolute favorite is tuna poke don. Someone mentioned poke earlier.. it's a sweet sauce/marinade with various herbs.. I believe it started in hawaii.. they coat the fish with it, and serve it on a bed of sushi rice with seaweed and various pickled vegetables.. it's fucking delicious. But hard to find at most places, since it's a mostly hawaiian dish. My old boss learned sushi in hawaii, then brought his secret recipes to virginia. But holy shit... there has never been a better and more complete food. Poke is the way to go, if you can ever find it.

I think the reason most people get high from sushi, is simply because it is so healthy.
Like.. most people are severely lacking in essential fatty and amino acids. Certain vitamins and minerals.. sushi contains very high concentrations of those vitamins and minerals and amino acids. So when you're getting all the nutrition your body needs but doesn't normally get.. you catch a buzz. It was a very common thing for people coming into the sushi bar.
I know when I started eating it every day, I felt ten times healthier than I ever have. Had virtually unlimited energy.
