Straight wasabi in big quantity is so harsh, no way I could handle it.  :puke:

Well considering there's about 4 threads now where the last 3 pages are just the two of us mindlessly rambling, I can see how that might happen.

Didnt read thru all the reply's, but nice japanese places have extremely good sushi.

Unagi (BBQ eel) just owns.
Salmon/tuna is cool too. I find Yellowtail to be a bit too 'chewy' or sumthing.

ANyway, it is actualy advised that you DONT eat fish, especialy raw, too often. Fish (depending on where they're caught) can have a lot of chemicals in them from the ecosystem.  They are like a giant filter in a lake.  Above normal levels of iron and such.
Raw is healthy, however, you always risk diseases/worms that can be in raw meats.

Anyway...i've been eating it forever. No problems yet.
I've heard it suggested no more than 3x per week tho.

I dunno if I'd like eating those.  I only like it on sushi.  My brother  and I tried to see who could eat a bigger spoonful of wasabi once.  We both lost.

When you cook most foods, it destroys the essential amino and fatty acids, especially in the case of fish, and nuts. Cooking vegetables and such leaks out the vitamins, breaks down the enzymes. Raw food is generally healthier for you.

Not to mention there are many types of sushi that are served with cooked fish. Unagi, and ebi.. for example. Some foods need to be cooked in order to be edible, or safe. But in general.. raw food is much healthier.

yeah.. but you should realize that 90% of the fish served at sushi bars.. are from farms, and not the wild. I was working at a sushi bar for about 8 months. Still work there now, only part time like a few times a month. I probably eat raw sushi... 5-6 days a week. No health problems yet. In fact, I feel ten times healthier. Maybe I'm a walking vat of mercury by now.. but meh. It's fucken good.

Actually.. health people say you should eat fish at least 3 times a week. But that presents a problem nowadays, since most of our major bodies of water are polluted as fuck.. and some fish have been known to have extremely high levels of mercury in them.

That's what I like about Alaska, I can go to just about any river I want and catch a nice, fresh, un-toxic fish.

And Ohmatic - Sushi and beer burps are quite the thing to behold. I'm suprised I didn't remember to remind you about that.
