this manual is a good introduction to the science of coming off benzos. i followed my doctors recommendation to go cold turkey off a 1mg ativan/day habit and i almost had a seizure.  (my muscles were so stiff i was walking like frankenstein, luckily i figured out what was happening in time and took an extra pill)  she didn't warn me of the withdrawal symptoms or even tell me that i might have withdrawals :shrug:

Did the same doctor perscribe the benzos? If she perscribed them and didn't know about the withdrawl symptoms then that is screwed up.

yes.  and if i take too many and run out at the end of the month, she says i have to go without, which would mean i would have to choose between going to the hospital and probably the loony bin (so they can keep an eye on my dosage), robbing a pharmacy, or dying.  i would have liked to have known i could be addicted so soon.  they are recommended for 2 weeks only but doctors prescribe them for longer all the time w/out saying you can get addicted

That is horrible... anyway, would it work to tell her that you are still having extreme panic attacks and have horrible anxiety and you need to be put back on the script? Then only take what you need to ween youself off of them, so that you never have to worry about death and seizures from withdrawl.

hehe, that's what i'm doing.  i figured that trick out quickly.  luckily she's fine with keeping me at 2mg and i'm gonna get off them without telling her.  if i tell her i'm reducing dosage, shes required by law to reduce my prescription, and a rigid deadline for coming off this stuff is the last thing anyone wants
