It appears that you do have an Amanita, however, I dont see a veil... I am familiar with Amanitas which have a very large veil, and am kinda unsure..

I havent looked up in my books or anything, but it appears to be one. The volva and the warts seem to give it away, but, it could also be a different species.

i'm not sold on it being a formosa. i can't single any detail that doesn't realy fit but it doesn't look right.

some of the same mushrooms that look just like that grow here too. ill get some pics of them tomorrow.

Maybe A. pantherina or something similar. Either way, I wouldn't experiment with it... Amanitas are by far the *worst* genus to experiement with because many of them are deadly.

I found some formosas this weekend at a hippy festival. Also picked several Saffron Milk Caps. I met some local mycologists that had been shroom hunting and it was quite cool. Personally, I enjoy Amanitas for their aesthetic value, more than their entheogenic value, because unlike psilocybes they are a lot riskier to experiment with.
