Yard Find - assistance appreciated :)

Hey there everybody, Ive been browsing these forums for a bit and found the information here to be pretty valuable and (seemingly) limitless and decided (finally) to join so I can get a good feel for this kind of stuff. Aside from some independent research of my own (youtube video guides and other internet sources such as mykoweb) I am a total newb.

Anyway, Ive been finding these in my yard all winter and have been wondering what they might be. Its been awhile since the last rain, and these specimens are fairly dried, but between the pics and the details, Im hoping someone can ID these little dudes.


Habitat:
Wood Chips; presumably pine/cedar on perimeter of front lawn, in the 707 bay area, large tree about a 12-15 feet away from wood chips-not sure what kind, guessing it to be some kind of birch or alder. Its been dry and even a bit sunny as of late, however, most days, and definitely nights, are still pretty chilly-regularly dipping into the mid 30s to 40s during the night.

Gills:
Light brown gills, moderate to closely spaced, appear to be attached to stem

Stem:
Length: varying, roughly 1-2 inches.
diameter: .08-.03 cm
color: bright yellow/golden with a hint of brown
texture: smooth, somewhat fibrous in appearance (not texture) both inside and out, hollow, I would say  somewhat thick (for their size), being thicker at the bottom

Cap:
Diameter: smaller ones: 1/8th cm larger ones: 1/2 inch
color: Appears as though they are/were a bright orange-red, at this point it seems that the original lighter orange color can be seen on the edge of the cap, getting darker hued as it goes toward the center- it appears at this point, from drying Id suspect, that the center/top of the caps has become such a dark orange-red that it is now dark/ruddy brown in color
texture: smooth
Appear to be spherical for the most part, Id say convex

Spore print color:
Coming soon! However, I have seen this variety in my yard and printed them on one other occasion, as I recall, they produced a dark brown print, couldnt really see much (if any) purple coloring

Bruising: It appears that the stems bruise into a ruddy/darkish brown color, similar to the color the caps seem to be turning (whether from bruising or drying I do not know, though the latter (drying) is suspected as they are untouched to my knowledge)

Other information: Has a very mild scent if any, though a few gave a whiff of the standard mushroom smell (like the ones at the grocer)

Welcome to the Shroomery, GTH.  I'm unfamiliar with that one.  It probably doesn't grow in my area.

Spores of Hypholoma are more purple-black than brown in my experience, at least the common ones.

see i always see them as purple brown/dark brown.

Spore colour can be variable even within a species.

Furthermore, these look like they dried up really fast, allowing very little time for spore deposit.
In my experience the spores of H. fasciculare look black or purple black when the spore deposit is really thick, but light spore deposits look brown or purple brown.

I've been making spore prints for Hypholomas for 20 years and I've never seen that.  I'll offer you the same opportunity I did to weiliiiiiiiiii.

Okay, next time I find some Sulphur tufts I will take a spore print.  Though the fruiting bodies will be of a different population, from a different area, so the spore colour may be slightly different in colour.

The cespitose growth from wood chips, along with the neon yellow stipes, leads me to H. fasciculare.

I guess we need some more opinions from the Trusted Identifiers.

I think it is a Hypholoma species with a purple-brown to black spore deposit, if the print is faint you would see the purple tinge, if it is a good  thick spore deposit it would look more black.
Some Hypholoma species produce a print that looks more black than purple-brown.
Maybe H. fasiculare or H. acutum, probably the former due to the distinct yellow colouring to the stipe.

Spore prints aside, the stipes texture and color lead me to believe they're Hypholoma.
