Part of the reason why people love him so much is he's opening up the government to greater levels of transparency and getting ordinary people involved in the political process.

Right, so he is going to End Marijuana prohibition like the people demand?

It's a bit out of hand, but I think at most he'll become the Ronald Reagan of the Left.

He even has a ex-Drug czar at his left to boot.

Taxes have very little to do with socialism, and the size of government isn't bad in itself.

I don't need an intellectual seatbelt TYVM.

It's how effective it is at serving the people.  And "taxing the shit out of everything" is nowhere near his agenda right now.  What he proposed during the campaign was to restore the highest income tax brackets to where they were under Clinton.  We're eventually going to need such tax increases in order to stop drowning in debt.  However, he shows no eagerness to raise taxes during a recession.

All this is talking out of the ass.  Supporting big business isn't the same thing as supporting people who have proven to screw up big business in selfish interest.  Showing a backbone enough to depose such people is the only thing I would support.  Democrat or republican doesn't matter.  Taxing is irrelevant.  Using economic leverage to depose those proven to to be unadaptable (Auto industries, petrol and media moguls).

Obama, on the other hand, is very sensitive to the concerns of others,

We'll see.  America has repeatedly expressed a desire to end bullshit prohibiton.  We'll see if he really is sensitive to the concerns of other or just high paying lobbyists.

He's made a concerted effort to open government up to the people, as well as reaching out to his rivals.

So far he has ignored the #1 issue presented to him by the people.

Whenver i criticize him people immeadiately jump all over me for being racist, there remains undying trust in this unknown man. You are looked down upon for disagreeing with barack, almost as if you are crazy for not agreeing with him. The democrats control just about all of washington, and whatever you party affiliation, that is a very scary situation. Obama is treated like a god, all of the merchandise, the overblown inuaguration, the campaign slogan "change" which required no specification. What im trying to say is that america is vulnerable, people are looking for a leader an icon, and i fear that barack obama has become a man who is infallible.

You Barack supporters do realize that he is a strong proponent of socialism right. Im not using the term in a deregatory sense, but in a time of recession he will ruin the economy.

Socialism yay!!! How do you propose, that a socialistic democracy would worsen the economy?? Do you have any examples of actual Socialistic governments, that have failed??? Do not say stalin's Russia, or Nazi Germany, because the were the furthest thing from actual socialism..

Not necessarily, but he may very well move towards a drug policy which emphasizes treatment over prosecution.

If you're referring to Joe Biden, he has never been a drug czar.  I don't like Biden's record on drug policy, but I suspect Obama chose him mostly for his foreign policy experience.

Public opinion is slowly but surely turning against the Drug War, but we're nowhere near the level of support needed for legalization.

Really? like that is the most important issue at the moment. I would love to see that just like so many other people, but to believe that it should be anything close to a top priority at this point, is insane.

People still criticize him, and some even hate him. I think after bush, people are more than willing to put their faith in him to change things. Not blind faith either, the media still criticizes the good things he's done. Not just feux news, I'm talking msnbc and others...

I've noticed this, & it scares me, too. Obama is praised like a God. I'm not a strong believer in Christianity, but it does say the anti-christ will be seen as a charismatic leader, at first. Everyone will trust the anti-christ, & fall in love with him. Then, once he has everyone in his hands, that's when shit goes down hill. I'm not saying Obama is the anti-christ, I'm just comparing. Like I said, I don't have strong beliefs in Christianity. However, it's not good that so many U.S. citizens act like Obama is the savior. I mean, good lord, he's just a good speaker, with a great speech writer! Everyone acts like he's already done all this great change, but he hasn't changed shit... That's the whole thing, he's only said the types of things he will do, like save the economy, deal with the problem in the middle east, etc. in my opinion, Obama has yet to show me he will do ANYTHING different than what Bush has been doing. Too many people have already thrown themselves into Obamas arms, & he hasn't even shown what he can, or is capable of doing.

One thing about Obamas speech that I liked was that he is advocating self-responsibility, something I feel that the U.S. needs. We have been doing a good job of this, with the whole alternative energy, & using less gas, etc. Either way, I'm still unsteady about Obama. & I didn't vote for McCain! NO fucking way, that guy is one over the cuckoos nest. I didn't vote, because I wasn't happy with either candidates. Viva la Ron Paul!!! hahaha

There is no such thing as non blind faith.Given how little Obama has accomplished in his short time as a senator.A LOT of faith is put on him. Which is funny because that's what people criticized Bush and the republicans for, and rightfully so.

But now you are doing it. Only in a even worse way if it was possible. The slogans, disgusting amounts of paraphernalia, the empty zombie like chants it's quite hysterical:lol: Yet scary like the OP said.

What's weird about this is that I am from a Republican state and Dick Cheney's hometown, and if you all think Obama is worshiped, you needed to be there when Bush and him were elected.

People talking about the "saving" of our country (this is back in 2000 when things were about 20X better overall) and how "God had delivered a Godly man: and on and on and on and on and on like that.

The perspective on Obama, who I will reserve judgment for until he actually gets a chance to preside and not campaign, is no worse, and in perspective, less severe by his followers considering the turmoil that our country and the world is in, compared to what Bush received.

Look at how Sarah Palin was deified.

All I have to say is that people need to wait until any president has done some shit before they can say he is a savior or whatever. I think the bulk of people supporting him are just overly excited that bush is out and we have a democrat for once.

I think regardless of who got elected, America would be breathing a sigh of relief to see Bush gone.  But I think there's a lot more to Obama than just the fact that he isn't Bush(remember that John Kerry ran on the platform of not being Bush).  With Obama, you've got a born leader who's charismatic, disciplined, intelligent, inspiring, diplomatic, and has a lot of great ideas for this country.  Everything he's done so far not only as president but even as president-elect shows he's got incredible leadership abilities.  We'll have to see how his presidency plays out, but I think he's given every reason to believe that he'll not only be a good president, but a great one.

Well those people you mixed with possibly overreacted. But I do trust him in a way where he's actually very human and cares about what goes on in this world. Having someone smart isn't that bad...but we'll see, right?

I feel that America shouldn't have a president at all in fact, but it depends how we carry on ourselves without one...

The primary concern with government is the scope of it's power. Most government action can be boiled down to the invention is economic affairs. Democrats generally support a greater involevemnt in economic affrairs. When ecomic stuff goes south they will implement increased control over your life. It is inivietible. That is why the left is considerably worse.

I hate alochol, it makes me want to converse, but i can;t express myself.

From generally, to they will, to that's why the left is worse.
Right...

And a deregulated banking system has been great for all of us, right?
Also the stellar and fair regulation of corporations is why we have such a sparkling and beautiful environment.

Not everyone idol worships him, be careful to not use a collectivist term.  I voted for him, but only because he was a good chance at reducing/slowing government.  I don't even agree with his principle, even though he sticks to it.. but hes closer than obama.  I see someone who agrees with me 90% of the time as my friend.

Anyway, obama agrees with me 0% of the time, and heres a few things you will get from him:

- national service (military and citizen)

- draft

- big government make work programs that they disguise as new jobs: government cannot create wealth or a valueable service in the marketplace.

- nanny state issues legislated and enforced

- huge expensive "energy" programs (administered by the largest polluter in the world) that will not actually reduce energy output by any significant length.

- social programs

- take away 2nd amendment rights

- continue drug war, prostitution war, gambling war, ect..

all of these done on a failing dollar, by a broken government entangled across the globe, at the cost of unborn americans futures, and at the cost of millions of peoples lives and wealth. obama won't fix shit, because he offers no change.  just a different variety of the same.
