No, I appreciated the acknowledgement of nonbelievers as well. It's about time this started to feel like a secular government again.

Sure, indoctrination happens, I just fail to see how secular government = no public schools. I'm talking about the ridiculous Christianization of our government that's been going on since WWII in the anti-communist propaganda campaign. The Founding Fathers were Deists for Christ's sake. THIS IS NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION OK?

As for public schooling, sure it needs some work, but I hardly see how it would be prudent to abolish it altogether.

Interventionsim is the rpbolem of government. Whatever the judstification does not matter. This is problem with liberals, they think that religous people are abusrbd for forcing their beliefs on other but they feel that the govenment should implenent new laws to enforce THEIR belifs on others.

The state advocates inverntionalism. Excuse me, but i am too drunk and too dumb to express myself.

Read some great books, ie Mises(human action, liberalims), Hayek(raod to sefdom, pretsense of knwoledge), hobbes, or etc.

I agree that interventionism is our biggest problem right now. Directly contrary to our original aims. Supported by ideas which are slightly less obviously contrary to our original aims. Do what you can.

I agree. Also the parents need to raise their kids and not expect the schools and television to do it. Sometimes I would like to see all technology just die.
Cell phones, video games, TV everything with computer components. That would leave old cars and trucks with points ignition still usable. People would actually have to work together and talk. It amazes me when driving somewhere how many people have headphones or ear buds in tuning out the world and not communicating with any one. Sad.

The Bush family is corrupt as they come. From Prescott Bush and the Nazi's to Jr trying to show everyone how great he is. I'm objective because I really haven't seen as much corruption in the past as in the last eight years. We have a war for oil. The war in Afghanistan was started because the Taliban would not let the US build a pipeline across their country. We have seen Halliburton, KBR and Blackwater steal billions form the people of the U.S. under Dick Cheney's blessing. The Neocons had been planning regime change in the middle east before bush Jr was president with the Project For A new American Century. The web site mysteriously disappeared but there is info on the net about it. We now have the Military industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about. We have never in our history had anything like we have now. Yes the CIA has done some shitty things including the Iran contra affair which went down during Reagan's term and Bush senior was right there having been the Director of the CIA. The Bush family has a lot of history in the government. Hopefully we are done with them. I am hoping that the country moves forward instead of back to dark ages.

Clinton didn't make the entire world hate the U.S. Bush did. We will just have to wait and see what transpires. I do believe that Obama really does want to help the U.S. by bringing  work back from over seas by giving tax breaks to companies who do so. His plan on rebuilding the infrastructure is also a step in the right direction. All of the past administrations have ignored it. The EPA and safety regulations have been gutted and Bush in his mad frenzy to fuck up the environment has done a lot of damage. There is more to life than corporate America and stock holders ruining the country, outsourcing jobs to foreigners all for greed.

Well, there's no harm in believing the best of him BEFORE he does wrong. Innocent until proven guilty, right? What gives you the idea he'll up taxes or something? That's suicide, even in periods of relative economic calm. What I find ironic is that much of the election bitchfights had to do with the issue of taxes. I mean, it was maybe one of the key issues debated over and over again! Just goes to show how superficial the American people are (in light of other current affairs), don't you think...

Xpatriot said:
Has anybody else takin notice to the almost scary trust and belief in barack obama.

Part of the reason why people love him so much is he's opening up the government to greater levels of transparency and getting ordinary people involved in the political process.

Quote:
The media has backed him from the beginging, he can seemingly do no wrong.

There were several in the media during the primaries who were clearly in the tank for Hillary.  And they certainly didn't give him a pass over the skeletons in his closet that came up during the campaign.  But they did see how masterfully he handled those crises, and the great leadership ability he showed.

Quote:
You are looked down upon for disagreeing with barack, almost as if you are crazy for not agreeing with him.

Such is the nature of politics.  People think they're right, and anyone who disagrees with them is stupid.

Quote:
The democrats control just about all of washington, and whatever you party affiliation, that is a very scary situation.

Not as scary as the Republican monopoly we had for the better part of the past 8 years.  It is my sincere hope that the Republicans do some soul-searching, reform their party platform to something a little bit more sane, and come back to present a principled and reasonable opposition.

Quote:
Obama is treated like a god, all of the merchandise, the overblown inuaguration, the campaign slogan "change" which required no specification. What im trying to say is that america is vulnerable, people are looking for a leader an icon, and i fear that barack obama has become a man who is infallible.

It's a bit out of hand, but I think at most he'll become the Ronald Reagan of the Left.

Quote:
You Barack supporters do realize that he is a strong proponent of socialism right.

You haven't the slightest idea what that word means.

Quote:
THe undying praise for him scares me, he will tax the shit out of everything, the governemnt will become very big, mark my words.

Taxes have very little to do with socialism, and the size of government isn't bad in itself.  It's how effective it is at serving the people.  And "taxing the shit out of everything" is nowhere near his agenda right now.  What he proposed during the campaign was to restore the highest income tax brackets to where they were under Clinton.  We're eventually going to need such tax increases in order to stop drowning in debt.  However, he shows no eagerness to raise taxes during a recession.

Quote:
His proposals will not come into question but will be automatically accepted, barack obama will exercise power by the likes of which we have not seen before. He will not be questioned, he will ruin america, and people complacently sit on the sidelines.

Bush took his mandate too far and milked it for everything it's worth.  Obama, on the other hand, is very sensitive to the concerns of others, and is great at coalition-building.  He's made a concerted effort to open government up to the people, as well as reaching out to his rivals.
