Wow, holy shit at Holland.

I had never known much about Holland, just mostly that it has a lot of museums and very good architect of the old times, as well as the common "Coffee Shop". and Recently banned Shrooms from "Smart Shops". I recently found out they have free health care as well? Not only to mention that, when I visited they had very friendly people. Many drugs are decriminalized, and even legal to possess in small quantity, cannabis, MDMA, even some harder drugs. I was shocked to read this. Also had very beauty landscape where we went two summers ago.

Jeesus. Holland seems like a dream compared to the United States, and while the ban on shrooms was a step back, they certainly are way ahead of the United States at the momment.

Maybe I should learn Dutch and consider moving there. Hell, I'd live in a smaller town near the country, but near enough to Amsterdam to have access to good drugs. Yes, I know, "move all the way out there for drugs" well, when I'm risking going to jail for a few years, I'd rather keep my years.

Also, I know a bit of German, I've been told they have similarities, but I have listened to the Dutch speak, and while definitely close, I had no idea what they were saying. Do you think this would interfere with me learning Dutch? I think say in a few years of learning and practicing Dutch while trying to obtain a visa, would be quite well. I think the United States is falling, and I want to move out of the country. I have been considering good places to live, and I like the cold, so I have thought about moving to Canada (also I think is moving in a generally good direction, but their leader is a bit misplaced if I'm not mistaken).

Any one else think this is a good idea? I don't have much attachment here besides my girlfriend and a few buddies- and I'm hoping that my girlfriend will someday be my wife, and I hope she would agree moving with me, as I really do feel our Country is failing, fast and hard.

Ideas? Thoughts? Opinions? Discuss.

Usually when countries have free universal health care then the care is really shitty.  Just look at Canada.

Yes, but I have heard good things from locals and a few other random spread out things I have heard over the years.. I have heard that Holland's free health care is quite good actually because taxes are higher, but definitely it is not to know if im dying and need to go to the hospital, im not going to wake up with a $100,000 fine.

I would rather live in Holland too though because Euthanasia is legal for terminally ill.  If we get terminally ill in the United States we have no option for Euthanasia.

Holland is an awesome place but collectivism sucks and the government is slowly progressing toward totalitarianism.

True, but some places in Canada aren't as bad as other places. I don't mind getting dressed up to go outside, I love the snow. In fact I live in Texas, but I've always preferred it to be about 30-40 degrees outside. 50-60 is a nice area too.

I don't know what to do really. I should really re-visit the places I want to visit, but god, it's so expensive to travel back and fourth.

:lol:  Don't move to Canada dude.  You're from Texas.  30-40 is a fucking heat wave in the winter for us in Wisconsin, and EVERYWHERE in Canada pretty much gets colder than Wisconsin.

Some public health care sucks.  Canada's sucks, England's sucks...but France's is quite good, as well as the Netherlands, from what I've heard.

Yes, I have heard quite well of Frances and the Netherlands (Holland) as well. That is a big portion (but obviously not limited to) reasons why I may want to move somewhere else. I know there are English business's in Holland, but I am unsure how badly the language barrier would be if I was not fluent in Dutch, and I would FEEL more comfortable being fluent in it.

These are all just ideas and speculations, nothing I'm going to act out on yet. Yes, I do realize that Canada is that cold by the way. I prefer to be cold than be warm. I'm weird okay?

I'm just saying man...I'm not sure you know what cold is.  And I'm not sure you realize how long it's cold in the north.

If I'm wrong and you do, more power to you man, but I would at least visit for a week in early January wherever it is you want to live before you make a decision to move there.

Holland is the shit. My blood is mostly Dutch so I have been there a few times. Incredible country. Yes, very friendly, especially by European standards - even if English is your only language, you will get plenty of hospitality, and everyone there knows English anyway.

Make sure you don't just go to Amsterdam if you ever go there. Last time I was there I stayed in Leiden, which is a small, dense college town. Absolutely beautiful. Probably the most laid-back place I have been in my entire life. Food is great, people are great, weather is great, scenery is great, architecture is great, museums are great, et cetera. Plus I got fucking stoned.

How come every time I think of places like the Netherlands or other places in Europe I feel like it would be so much better than where I live now? I live in the suburbs of Atlanta. Seems like America is all consumer/capitalism and no time to really live life, and Europe is all about enjoying the benefits of a slower and meaningful lifestyle (of course all generalizations here). I could be wrong, just an observation.

To the OP, I think if you have your heart and mind in it, then it is definitely achievable. You just got to weigh the positives and negatives of either situation.

Oh I have been to Holland, I went to Amsterdam and a few surrounding cities, didn't go too deep though, we definitely hit the country area of it. Yeah, every person we talked to knew English and spoke quite well and was very friendly and was eager to help out. It was quite nice.. Ahh don't get me started on the food, it was very delicious. I was quite stoned too when I ate, but it was delicious beyond any normal meal I would eat.

Yes, I have experienced what -30 degree weather is, and quite familiar with it. I have gone mountain climbing where temperatures get quite low and frostbite is quite of concern. I will definitely do as you suggested though, I know that it's better to be safe, than sorry.

I'm tired though.. Peace out Shroomery, would stay up but I have work tomorrow bright and early. Bleh.
