I heard on the news once that former UN Weapons Inspector Hans Blix is a mushroom cultivator..... which broaches interesting questions....

Mushrooms are 100% legal as long as you don't dry them(Shops still sell dried mushroooms, so nobody cares, but that's the law)
5 MJ plants per person is legal. (a house with 12 students = 60 plants  )

But sometimes a judge has some american blood in his veins and says that it is illegal to grow enormous amounts of mushrooms It's all about how judges interpret the dutch law. But nearly nobody is accusing mushroom growers/sellers etc so that's nice.

I can't believe a country actually broke the North American trend and partially ended prohibition. That actually gives me hope that maybe Canada and the U.S. will realize their mistake eventually and stop being so fucking stupid.

Yay, thanks for the replies. My husband and I are thinking about moving to Holland in a few years and I was *just a tad* curious about their drug laws regarding shrooms and weed.

i heard it was illegal for coffeeshop owners to buy or grow marijuana, so i guess they were supposed to find it on the street or something so they could sell it in their shops.
the thing is that the policy is for the police to not enforce the laws. that's what i have heard at least.

What in Holland? Yeah, it's great. Amstersdam is a superb city (have to watch out for all the cyclists though!) and there are some great museums there too. I started and finished my European backpacking there.
