I think this is a pretty good move for the Rays. Not a bad price, addressed their need for another power bat, and they don't have to suffer Burrell's poor range in the outfield. The AL east is going to be quite a battle.

Yeah, great pickup. Strange days when people go to the Rays feeling like they're going to be able to compete. Especially is the stacked AL East.

There should be an off-season baseball thread stickied. Milton Bradley goes to Chicago pending physical. Rays GM looks like a teenager.

I'll just keep talking about baseball in here. Manny is out of his fucking mind if he think he's going to get a four year, 25 millon deal. The Braves are going to end up 5th in the NL east, and the Marlins will win the wild card. The Giants and Reds won't suck.

Glad for the Sox, glad for JS as he'll get a chance to compete like he never has before, but sad for the whole "spending your whole career with one team" ideal that I still cling to.

I mean I hope Smoltz does well in Boston, he has always been a class act. In my mind though you have to do some things to keep your fans happy, this was one of those things. Getting Glavine not so much.

That's good that the Rays are at least spending some money after their recently brief success, instead of following the lead of a team like the FLA marlins and hosting a fire-sale in the parking lot of Tropicana Field.

The Braves have acquired Japanese pitcher Kenshin Kawakami with a three year contract. He could be a solid third starter. It seems we have a rotation full of third starters.

5 number 3 starters is probably about even.  But, not to be mean or anything, the Braves are probably gonna suck for a few years until they can find a couple minor league gems.  That's just the way it is.  Oh well, they won their division 4,000 years in a row.  Not bad.

I rhink if they got Lowe and a power hitting outfielder they could play .500 ball. In 2010 Tommy Hanson should be ready and Tim Hudson should be healthy, but I don't know how much longer Chipper can play. At the rate he's going he'll play 50 games and hit .700.

Yeah.  I am not quite sure what's going on with the three pitchers left.  And Adam Dunn.  Manny I get, but not those four.  My cock swells every time I think the Yanks might get Sheets cheap.  Swells, I say.

I've not heard as much talk about Sheets as I have the other good FA pitchers. He's dynamite when he's healthy. Top 10 pitcher, even. Well maybe not, but he's fucking good.

Yep, he sure is, maybe even top 5.  He has almost the exact same injury history as Burnett.  I'm mystified.
