Canada- doggy on a leash
    #941764 - 10/08/02 04:24 AM (21 years, 5 months ago)

Am i the only one who feels that the liberal government is fucking us over? We have become US's little doggie- doing what they want, going to fight with them wherever they want, fucking over our own citizens for the same of the US.
Fuck, if not the US weed would be legal here...
I say fuck the states

well those are my 2 cents

OhTedy, It's not just the Liberals that are selling us out. We have been a puppet for a long time...did you know that during the Cuban Missle crisis, the U.S. had the power (and used it) to put our armed forces at it's highest alert...something only the Prime Minister can do. And despite our Prime Ministers opposition at the time, our Military was at the Americans disposal....sort of puts things in perspective doesn't it?

did you know that during the Cuban Missle crisis, the U.S. had the power (and used it) to put our armed forces at it's highest alert...something only the Prime Minister can do.

You got that ALMOST right.

It was not the entire Canadian military that was under US operational control, just the forces committed to NORAD, mainly longrange interceptors. These and ONLY these forces were put on the highest alert by NORAD (which was indeed to all intents and purposes controlled by the US military command) during part of the Cuban missile crisis.

It is true that that Canada's agreement to enter NORAD was a highly controversial decision, but the signing of the treaty followed proper Candian parliamentary procedures. One of the clauses of the NORAD agreement allowed NORAD to make the decision as to when the participating forces could be put on alert, rather than the Canadian Prime Minister. Therefore, the issuing of the alert was perfectly legal.

Whether Canada should have ever signed the NORAD agreement is debatable, but once signed, the Canadian Prime Minister (John Diefenbaker at the time) had no grounds for protesting when the US exercised its options granted to it by a treaty that was agreed upon by both parties.

Note that this is the one and only time such an action was ever taken.

i know first hand what the canadian military trains for: INTEGRATION.
we are expected o integrate within another military (the US military) and function as part of a coolition.
as Rono pointed out it is not just the liberals that fuck us. its the whole system.... evry political party in canada is full of shit.
the liberals: you typical politicians- liars and sellouts.
NDP: full of idealistic shit, that would dissapear the second they are in power.
the conservatives: they might have some priniples, but they are downright scary.
same with the alliance.
canada had one normal PM- the late Pierre Trudeau. too bad hes dead.
what we should do is dig him up, take a few cells and clone him on vermiculite and BRF.
fuck this is depressing.

Anyone watch the MadTV episode where George Bush is flying in a plane with some military guy?

Theyre talking about blowing up Iraq, Bush has a parachute on and gets himself all worked up and excited.. Then he makes a dash for the door and the guy stops him, tells him that theyre not their yet, theyre still over Canada.

Bush raises his fist and yells "Yah, well your next Canada". I thought it funny that we would invade a country we already own...

yeah USA owns Canada. It's really just a satalite country.

Like USSR, they had satalite countries too. Along with Rome, Babylon...

Canada is a warehouse of USA.

The Americans generally treat us better than the other countries they own. They have to. Canada is REAL tight with the whole western world, and what would Europe think if USA were to defoiliate British Columbia in a quest to kill marijuana. It wouldn't do at all.

Won't happen soon... decrim maybe... we'd have to break all kinds of UN agreements to legalize it.

Canada didn't say they'd go along with the US if they went to war with Iraq, they said they'd go along if the UN supported it.
