How to store rye?

I just got 40kg of rye from my farmer friend and
this will obviously do for a while :smile:

How long can you store rye before it goes bad?
How do i store it?
Can i deep-freeze it? (-27 C)
It would be seriously bad if it starts prematurely
growing something on it, as it was kind of hard
getting it in the first place.

Sorry, could have properly search the net first.

Here's what i got through PCC Natural Markets site:

Find prepackaged rye in most natural foods or grocery stores; buy it in bulk for maximum savings. Store rye in a cool, dry area in a sealed glass or plastic container, because air, moisture, and sunlight can cause the oils to go rancid.

So airtight ziplock type bags are ok?
I was worrying that if the rye was put in an airtight storage that
it would start growing on me.
