and all they gave me in the hospital over a 6 hour period was 10 mg of morphine iv

yeah, comfort seems to be the killer, I guess that's why most of
my injuries have been minor, I'm always very aware of my
environment before I power up a machine, I'm not one that takes
possession of my fingers lightly, if conditions are adverse to
doing something I put it off, if I have a boss that says I need
to do it, I ask him to go find himself another hero

well I work under the table and have for this particular guy for about 6 months.

can I legally sue since I am getting no compensation what so ever?

Yeah, I can relate.  I've been a heavy equipment operator since the early 90s.  The biggest killer in the industry is comfort.  A machine can kill a guy faster then you realize and I have to remind myself every day that I could potentially kill someone before I even knew I did it.  Often times guys who work with me on a regular basis tend to get kinda relaxed around me because of my skill with the machine.  They see the things that I can do and start to get the attitude that I would never make a mistake and hit them.  But thats when I usually have to give them the lecture about safety.  I'm human, and I make mistakes.  If you are on the ground around me you need to be aware of everything that is happening just as much as I do.  I always tell my laborers my motto..."If I'm doing my job safely I won't kill you, if you're doing your job safely then I couldn't kill you if I tried!  NEVER ASSUME THAT I SEE YOU!"

honestly it wasnt too bad like a 6 1/2 7. I refused to get an ambulance and my boss wasnt even their and instead of waiting for him I tried to drive myself but other workers on the site took my keys and I had to wait for him. On the way I got light headed but it really didnt hurt much more but when they un did my make shift bandage job ( 3 pieces of gauze about 20 dunkin donuts napkins and some duct tape) and it got to the air the pain level rose to an 11+. whatever its only pain. What hurt more was the fact they only gave me percs. Long hair + hemp necklace = a stereo typing doc. but I wasnt their for meds I was their to be fixed. If I want drugs I can just buy them or ask friends and get them for free. It would be really easy for me to become a pill addict for next to nothing.

Well, whoever was in charge was making you work in unsafe conditions and they should have known better.

Plus, you are now going to be a good while without work and are going to have no wages coming in.

Maybe even if you don't sue you should try and work something out with your boss, maybe he can have you doing paperwork or driving for stuff or something.

A few years ago when I was in  hospital, my roommate was this young guy (mid 20s) who was a construsction worker. He had fallen into one of those giant cement mixers and had lost one leg and the other one had been saved after a 12 hour operation. He had a wife and 6 month old baby girl.
So his employer, who didn't have him on the books comes along playing the sorry bit and offering the equivalent of a few thousand dollars to sign a paper saying that it was his fault he had fallen in (in fact there was no safety cover on the mixer).
So his family are all telling him take the money take the money, we need it to buy your new prosthetic leg (healthcare is free here but you pay 50% of prosthetics) etc.
Only his wife was using her head. As she said, he was signing off his right to sue for very little money and he was not going to be able to work for years and never in most jobs.

I'm not saying this is your case but you should really try and work things out, employers have a responsability towards their employees. If you consider that you were working safely, first go and talk to your boss in a friendly way and if that does not work out then think about your options.
