Book References to Nasty Tasting Cubes

Hi. Before I leave this world on my New Years Day 'excursion from reality' I wanted to comment on the subject. In my research books (Stamets et al) they all state that cubes are, frankly, nasty tasting. A few months ago, during my first (successful) cake fruiting, I remember steeling myself against the experience of 'Nasty Tastes'.

During that first 'excursion from reality' it was a pleasant surprise to discover there was no 'Nasty Taste', just a mild plant like taste that tended neither towards sweat, sour, acrid, salty, spoiled, what-ever. Upon contemplation I realized the book author's have (1) never had to submit to an upper GI which requires the patient to devour a large glass of disgusting, liquid barium before being xrayed and (2) were straight men who were never put in the specific position of satisfying their partners by performing an act which required them to ultimately swallow that satisfaction, a satisfaction which is comprised of a far more disgusting taste and feel then even warm, liquid barium. So, compared to those other two experiences I was relieved and happily chomped the remaining cubes, swallowed down by cranberry juice.

I think you women out there in Shroomery Land, and you older folks (like me), will appreciate this perspective and remember it the next time you chomp on your crop. Don't forget the cranberry or pink grapefruit juice, it's supposed to help intensify digestion and it does help with the taste - what little there is.

Hehe, cubes always taste fine the first few times. It's after your body is familiar with it that it starts to taste disgusting.
