if the government is going to be dictatorial and go against what the people want then arms and bombs would make them think twice

filtering the net in the way they want too is communism and it denies us and our future children the right to choice and im afraid we've used arms against that before,why stop now just because its our own infiltrated government

i honestly cant see how anyone could be for a government run filter block that lets them decide what the people should see,view or learn unless theyre part of the plan

ever been up against the arrogant rude inept powerhungry people that work in centrelink offices or the court systems?

When christian lobby groups do things like censor TV, they are not trying to make the world a better place. They are doing it because only by instantiating policy is anyone considered to actually be doing things/influencing the world. Lobby groups HAVE to make changes or else their very existance is futile.
So what changes are they gonna make?
Whatever change it is has to be backed up by a reason.
this reason can be agreed with or disagreed with.
However, being in a religion means that you automatically have a set of values that every other person in your creed is meant to agree with.

Thus by making arbitrary policy changes + using unarguable values as basis + instantiating a policy that grants more control to certain bodies (over what films are allowed or arent allowed, etc..)
a lobbyist succeeds at their role and secures themselves a job.
The more ways they can find to suggest censorship, the more ways they can keep themselves in their job.

But lets not forget about who is giving them the job. When someone from a religious group does some action which is backed up by the values of their religion, then it doesnt really matter what that action is - people who follow this group or their religion are most likely to react by interpreting this body as a power on their side, one they want to be allied with.

What it comes down to are arbitrary expressions of power that instantiate the influence of a particular group and are justified by the values of that group.

since most people cannot find meaning and influence in their own lives, they seek to be part of a group which itself achieves this.

this is something the world needs to wake up to a bit more - the fact that every 'role' is actually performed by an individual or individuals whose primary objective is to gain influence and keep it that way, and will do so specifically by making it seem like their are working for someone else.

So we should accept that people WILL keep trying to censor things no matter what the state of the world or the state of the media. Unless it is already totally controlled by a certain body.

And quite frankly we should never let them. The only reason we censor is because we are apparently afraid of ourselves. We censor things because we dont want children or violent people repeating what they see or hear. We dont want people being able to find information that they could potentially use. Information is a weapon, a power, after all.

When really we should be trying to make it so that the people in our country are intelligent and have good values.

Because honestly I dont think any other value is worthy for a nation as having honourable, responsible citizens who make their own values and social agreements.

IT is better to have cultured violence than uncultured restraint
