Does anyone make a digi hygrometer that uses a remote probe?

Have been getting my supplies in order and am shopping for a temp/hygro gauge for the tub/tanks/etc 

I know there are some of you who have cursed digi gauges in the past, and many others with no issues whatsoever.  I'm gonna give it a try.

I like the "sunleaves" large display unit, and that it goes to 99% makes it better than almost all the others, but my only problem with it and every other one simillar is this:  They only read "INSIDE" rh, meaning the unit has to psyically sit in the tub/tank for a RH reading.  These units have wired probes that are designed to go out windows/doors to get a reading "OUTSIDE". he probes only do temp outside, not RH.  I want one that I can use the OUTSIDE settings (using the wired probe and not subjecting the unit to the extremly high RH it will be reading) to monitor conditions in the tub/tank.  It makes sense that these abnormally high humidity conditions probably cause the premature failure of these devices. 

I was looking at the radio shack unit thats 19.95 and identical to the sunleaves unit, but it only goes to 95% RH...sorry.

Search "Taylor Hygrometers". They sell good hygrometers/thermometers with both wired and wireless probes. HippieChick has posted about them in the past. I forget the exact model number she uses, but she really liked it. You can probably dig up her posts about it.

Thanks FooMan, I checked out Taylor's website but seem to be finding the same thype of thing...there seems to be nothing that uses a remote, wired probe to determine RH, only temp.  They had a nice one that did read indoor/outdoor temp AND humidity, but due to it being a wireless transmitter, has to sit in the tub/tank exposed to extreme humidity.

Thanks also to WTS, but I had a little trouble finding any info about Lucent technologies, other than they are in bed with AT&T, could not dig up any hygrometers from them. 

SOMEONE HAS TO MAKE ONE!!!

I built a humidistat using a HM1500 from humirel.  Ultimately that probe proved to not be that reliable over time as it would tend saturate then not respond.  The HM2500 looks like it may be a little better http://www.humirel.com/product/fichier/HTM2500.pdf ; but looking at the data sheet we see a 5% error when getting close to 100%.

You could buy one of these probes and if you just wanted to make measurements you could power it up with a 5V power supply and take measurements with a decent multi-meter.  I don't know if your into electronics a little bit or not.  If not at all this isn't for you but if your into them you can see what can be done here.  You could build a humidistat easily with some comparators and a relay you could use this with a micro-controller too.

Keep in mind I've heard for RogerRabbit that any humidity sensor can be clogged with spores if your late to harvest.  Although you should be able to wash them in distilled water.

i bought 2 analong rh gauges and they weren`t calibrated right and i still did not have a problem with humidity.

Shroomy 1 also uses a digital - I think he said it's a $30 one from Radio Shack, and he says it works fine.

I think I found something here.
Kinda expensive, but you can use up to 3 wireless probes with it. So you could monitor up to 3 different monotubs or fc's. I might have to invest in one of these.

There is an article I read someplace, I think on this site actually, on taking the RH sensor out of a standard humidity sensor and basically wiring it up with telephone wire and recalibrating it.

Didn't look like too long of a project, and should give you exactly what your looking for without spending way too much on any kind of pro setup
