Bunk hygrometer

My terrarium has condensation on the sides, but I'm wondering if that's only because my room is so cold compared with the FC. The hygrometer in the tub reads 78% despite having the bottom filled with hydroton and a perlite pickle. This could be because of the dry (30%) air in the room, which enters the tub via bubble-wands. In the last FC I used, I also had the bottom filled with perlite and the hygrometer still read under 80. I'm doing casings, and I want 90%, question is AM I GETTING IT?! Is there something I'm missing here? Is my hygrometer right or wrong?
As a related question, where can I get a RELIABLE digi hygrometer that's not too expensive?

I have gone through 3 already...ever one went back to the store. I have a manual bulb hygrometer on the way.

i've had problems with hygrometers as well. i've learned just to listen to the mycelium. it'll tell you when the humidity's off. mycelium won't stop growing and not fruting = too much humidity. cake/casing is blueing = not enough humidity/water content. and a whole bunch of other things, bacterial blotch, etc etc etc.

I'm sticking with the old manual stand-by...Oh, and it's also a Taylor.
The idea came from one of the forum masters.

Those are all I use, and there is never a question if it's right or wrong and it never needs calibrating! WORD!!!
