Mycelial spawning with spent cakes??

#943418 - 10/08/02 04:02 PM (23 years, 11 months ago)

I know u can transfer mycelium to spawn for colonization, my question is, can u take a spent PF style cake and cut to the core, h2o2 it and transfer to a grain quart? If so, what would be the type of procedure? h2o2 in the spawn jar and sample piece?? Or is the cake to old? Say the cake was white and healthy...

The cake is dead (no more fruiting)... And i have quart jars of rye berries ready for innoculation. I was going to take the dead cake and slice it up and take the center of the cake, probally the least exposed and h2o2 that part before putting it in with the rye
