I got the neck cleaned up and planed flat. I think the maple veneers really make the neck "pop". It gives good separation between relatively dark woods. I also glued up the lower wing. I should be able to glue up the upper wing tomorrow and have basic body shape cut into the wing I glued up today. Tomorrow I also plan on cutting the fingerboard from lumber, milling it down, and slotting it for frets. I also need to go ahead and start the neck for my next instrument. It is a single cutaway guitar for the lead guitarist for the band Bayside.

i got the other wing glued up





On a side note and unreleated to this project, I started a guitar for a friend of mine, Jack. He is the lead guitarist for Bayside. It is going to be a single cutaway guitar. here is the neck with the scarf joint cut.

depends on the instrument and what all options are done. this bass isnt going to take me near as long as the Bayside guitar is because of all the custom carving that is going to happen on the guitar.
